Description

[0001] Technical field

[0002] The utility model relates to the field of mining in terms of preventing incidents that may injure users and damage equipment, and which may lead to unplanned downtime of equipment, negatively affecting operating costs.

[0003] More specifically, it refers to a power cable containing a highly efficient electromagnetic induction system that provides sufficient electrical energy to power the light-emitting diodes that provide illumination to the power cable during use.

[0004] State of the art

[0005] Power cables in the mining industry play an important role in the development of this industry, as they are designed to transmit energy, data, signals, etc. for various mining machines and equipment.

[0006] Relatively long cables are used to run from power sources to various mining machines in mines and quarries, forming an extensive cable network that sometimes covers the entire mining area.

[0007] In this regard, power cables used in mining are specially designed to work in harsh conditions and must meet the increasing requirements of mining equipment, so that they become an important component in any mining operation.

[0008] Cables are also designed to withstand extreme temperatures, chemicals, abrasion, and other conditions encountered daily in any mining operation. Because these cables are particularly important for transmitting signals and / or electrical power, they are often shielded to protect against electromagnetic interference.

[0009] There are various types of mining cables, such as heavy-duty portable power cables, which are reliable and flexible, suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

[0010] Heavy-duty power cables are also available, offering long service life and reliability in extreme conditions. These cables contain conductors made of finely stranded copper wires for efficient electrical power transmission.

[0011] For systems with very high power transmission requirements, cables with stranded tinned copper wire conductors are used, which provide exceptionally high electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.

[0012] Although all power cables used in the mining industry have specific characteristics that ensure high efficiency and resistance to harsh working conditions, they are not immune to damage that can be caused by passing vehicles, electric excavators, drilling machines and other equipment used in the production areas of mine workings.

[0013] Accordingly, this utility model provides a power cable with its own backlight, which is clearly visible to machine operators in both dark and daylight conditions, so that operators can detect the power cable and can avoid it being damaged by the vehicle, and in this case, the possibility of accidents, equipment damage and forced downtime of the production line is significantly reduced.

[0014] In the prior art, although there are documents regarding power cables for the mining industry, none of them describes a cable having two sheaths, an inner sheath and an outer sheath, made of a transparent material, wherein the outer sheath has a certain color, so that the power cable can not only be detected by the naked eye of the operator in daylight, but also allows light to be emitted by a LED strip, and the light is released out through the outer sheath, so that the power cable can be seen at night or in dark conditions, as described in the present disclosure.

[0015] Examples of such power cables are disclosed in a power take-off system for cable illumination described in patent documents WO2014026300, WO2020178534, and WO2020178535. These patents disclose cables with a transparent polymer sheath that are visible to mine workers only in the dark because the light emitted by LED elements extends from the inside of the cable to the outside. However, such a power cable is poorly visible in daylight conditions because the light emitted by the LED elements does not contrast with daylight. In addition, the color of the cable may be indistinguishable from the color of the surrounding environment, so the problem of the cable being damaged by vehicles or other equipment, resulting in equipment damage or injury to people, remains unsolved.Because the self-illuminating power cable proposed in this utility model contains a transparent polymer inner sheath, which allows the light emitted by the LED elements to pass through, and a transparent polymer outer sheath of a specific color contrasting with the surrounding environment, which allows the light emitted by the LED elements to pass through, the power cable can be seen in the dark. The color of the outer sheath allows the power cable to be seen in both daylight and darkness.

[0016] Another known technical solution related to a power take-off system for cable lighting and described in patent document WO2014026300 includes a power take-off system that can cause the outer diameter of a power cable to exceed the maximum value specified in standards S-75-381 and CSA C22.2 No. 96; and, in addition, this system makes the cable heavier, so that it becomes significantly heavier than power cables of this type that do not include a power take-off system. Due to the fact that the power cable proposed in the present utility model contains an electromagnetic induction device having reduced dimensions, since it contains a core made of a material with high magnetic permeability, which allows for a reduction in the dimensions of the energy induction system, the diameter of the power cable meets the requirements established by the ICEA S-75-381 and CSA C22.2 No. 96 standards, and such a cable is much lighter than the cable disclosed in patent document WO 2014026300.

[0017] The energy extraction system for cable illumination disclosed in patent document WO2014026300 includes a modular energy extraction system, but the length of the modules is very long, and if such a module fails, the illumination of the cable may stop over a large section of it, or the sensor to which the energy extraction device is connected will not work properly.In contrast to this technical solution, the power cable proposed in the present utility model contains a small-sized energy take-off device, since it contains a core made of a material with high magnetic permeability, which allows for better use of the electromagnetic energy present in the phase conductor, and is capable of generating in the energy take-off coil a minimum electric potential sufficient for the operation of light-emitting diodes, which is preferably at least 3 volts, so that it is possible to obtain short modules, preferably about 0.5 meters, and in the event of a failure of the backlight system module, only a small section of the power cable is no longer illuminated, that is, a situation does not arise where a significant part of the cable will not be illuminated.

[0018] Similarly, a cable with a power take-off system for its illumination, disclosed in patent document WO 2014026300, comprises a power take-off system, preferably for the illumination of mining and quarrying cables with electrostatic shielding. However, this proposal does not provide a solution to the problem of grounding the electrostatic shield, since when the power take-off device is located around the phase conductor, its electrostatic shield will not have electrical contact with the grounding conductors. Whereas, in the power cable disclosed in the present utility model, a connecting element having a suitable diameter is used, made in the form of a braid of tinned copper wires covering a plastic filler. This connecting element is arranged in a spiral around the phase conductor in such a way that an electrical connection of the electrostatic shield with the grounding conductors is ensured.

[0019] Another technical solution is a power cable with its own illumination, described in patent document WO 2020178535, which also includes at least one tape located in the area of the central filler near at least one conductive element, wherein this tape includes a number of elements that emit light using the electric current in the phase conductor. This system may have the disadvantage that the tape is damaged after a short time as a result of normal handling of the power cable at the point of use, since the tape is located on the outermost part of the assembly formed by at least one conductive element, at least one tape, and at least one energy collection system.The system claimed in this utility model comprises at least one electrical energy-consuming element (LEDs), arranged in a spiral pattern on at least one phase conductor. This configuration allows the electrical energy-consuming element to resist torsional forces arising during normal handling of the power cable at its point of use.

[0020] None of the above proposals describes or shows a solution to the technical problem disclosed in the present utility model. Thus, in order to eliminate the shortcomings of the known technical solutions, the present utility model relates, without limitation, to a power cable with its own illumination for use in mines and quarries, comprising a transparent colored outer sheath located over a first inner sheath, also made of a transparent material, wherein the colored outer sheath ensures the visibility of the power cable in daylight conditions, and, in addition, the transparent colored outer sheath allows the light emitted by the LED elements to pass outward, so that the power cable can also be visible to users in the dark.

[0021] In one non-limiting embodiment, if the power cable is a self-illuminating cable, a tension tape is used that is located over the core of the assembled wires and contains a transparent material of a certain color, wherein the color includes different colors to select the color most suitable for providing a contrast of the power cable with the environment in which it will be used.

[0022] Furthermore, this option features a transparent thermoplastic jacket over the tie tape, which encloses the core of the bundled (strapped) wires for protection. The transparency of the jacket and the color of the transparent tie tape allow the light emitted by the LED elements to pass through, making the power cable easily visible in both dark and daylight conditions.

[0023] Tasks

[0024] The main purpose of this utility model is to provide a self-illuminating power cable that has an inner transparent sheath and an outer colored sheath also made of a transparent material, so that the light emitted by the LED strip can be seen through the outer and inner sheaths in the dark, and the color of the outer layer makes the power cable visible to machine operators under daylight conditions.

[0025] Another objective of the present utility model is to ensure that an element consuming electrical energy obtained as a result of electromagnetic induction is arranged in a spiral on at least one phase wire, so that resistance to bending stresses is ensured.

[0026] Another objective of the present utility model is to provide a protective connection around the phase conductor so as to ensure the continuity of the electrical circuit between the electrostatic screens of the phase conductors, as well as the continuity of the electrical circuit between the electrostatic screen and the grounding conductors.

[0027] An additional and important challenge is to reduce the size and weight of such power cables, since the electromagnetic induction system that provides sufficient electrical energy for the LEDs to emit light is small in size and light in weight.

[0034] Detailed Description

[0035] The following description contains examples of several embodiments of the proposed utility model. Those skilled in the art will understand that the following description applies to various applications, and any embodiment discussed is merely an example that in no way limits the scope of protection of the utility model, including the claims.

[0036] The figures are not necessarily drawn to scale. Some features and components may be shown enlarged or in some schematic form, while other details of common elements may be omitted for the sake of brevity and clarity. For the sake of clarity and conciseness, in some figures, one or more components or aspects of a component may be omitted, or they may not be identified by reference numerals identifying features or components. Furthermore, throughout the description, including in the drawings, the same reference numerals may be used to refer to standard or similar elements.

[0037] The use of ordinal numbers (i.e., first, second, third, etc.) to identify one or more components within a possible group of similar components is done for convenience and clarity of presentation. Ordinal numbers that may be used outside the formula for elements of a particular group of components may not necessarily correspond to the ordinal numbers used in the formula when referring to different elements of the same group or similar group of components.

[0038] As shown in the attached figures, in particular in Fig. 1, the present utility model relates to a power cable containing a highly efficient system that collects electromagnetic energy present around at least one phase wire (conductor) 210, 220, 230 of a power cable 200, when an electric current flows through said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230. The electromagnetic energy collected in this way is converted into electrical energy with optimal parameters necessary for powering, among other consuming elements, a plurality of light-emitting diodes 160 emitting light for illuminating the power cable 200.

[0039] The specified 200 power cable is a low voltage cable operating in the range of 300 to 2000 volts to provide power, data, signals, etc. to various machines and equipment used in the mining industry.

[0040] Fig. 2 is a diagram illustrating a typical application of a power cable 200 in an illustrative embodiment, and the diagram shows a structure 201 of the portal type for the passage of machines and equipment 202 in an open pit mine (without limiting itself to such an application), wherein the power cable 200 with its own illumination, containing an electromagnetic field energy extraction system (described in detail below), transmits energy to the mining machines 203 from an electric power source (not shown).

[0041] Thus, while the power source continues to supply electric power to the mining machinery and / or equipment 202, in this case an electric mining excavator, the electromagnetic induction system of the power cable 200 takes the energy of the electromagnetic field and converts it into electric power with optimal parameters to power a plurality of light-emitting diodes for illuminating the power cable 200 during its use, which makes it possible to best detect the power cable 200 to prevent damage to it, as a result of which the number of incidents in which equipment may be damaged or people may be injured is reduced, and the efficiency of mining operations is improved.

[0042] Similarly, power cable 200 includes medium-voltage cables ranging from 2,000 to 35,000 volts, as well as high-voltage cables ranging from 35,000 to 138,000 volts. Therefore, its design may vary depending on the cable type and its intended use.

[0043] In particular, as shown in Fig. 1, the power cable 200 proposed in the present utility model is a cable for mines and pits (without limitation), which includes the following components:

[0044] At least one phase conductor 210, 220, 230, which includes a conductive core 211 made of copper, aluminum, copper-coated aluminum, or other alloys, and which is intended to transmit electric current. The conductive core 211 can be provided with at least one screen 212 made of a semiconductor material and located on the core to suppress the outward propagation of an electric field.

[0045] At least one insulation layer 213 located on the core screen 212 and made of a curable composite material or a thermoplastic composite material, for insulating the conductive core.

[0046] Furthermore, said at least one insulation layer 213 is covered with at least one screen 214 made of a semiconductor material, also for suppressing the propagation of an electric field. Said at least one insulation screen 214 is also covered with at least one electrostatic screen 215, made in the form of a braid (not shown in the figures), consisting of copper wires and colored textile threads for phase identification, for grounding electrostatic currents.

[0047] Furthermore, at least one bare or insulated conductive core 280, 281 made of a copper-based material is used to ground the power cable system. In the proposed embodiment, the utility model also comprises at least one insulated copper conductive core 290 for testing the grounding of the power cable system 200.

[0048] The power cable 200 of the presented embodiment of the present utility model also integrates at least one new electromagnetic energy induction system 100, shown in Fig. 3, which is located around the said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230, described in the previous paragraphs.

[0049] The new electromagnetic induction system 100 comprises at least one core 110, 130 formed by at least one wire / conductor made of a material with high magnetic permeability, which includes electrical steel, nanocrystalline ferromagnetic material, nickel-iron alloys (mu-metal), pure iron and other alloys, which are designed to collect part of the energy of the electromagnetic field arising around the said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230 when an electric current flows in it.

[0050] The electromagnetic field energy extraction system 100 also comprises at least one energy extraction coil or turns 120, 140 made of at least one electrically conductive wire made of copper, aluminum, copper-coated aluminum, and other alloys. [0051] The energy consuming device 150, containing a device for measuring at least one characteristic of the operating mode of the power cable 200 (without limitation), contains a strip of light-emitting diodes 160, which consume energy induced in the coil or in the turns 120, 140 of the energy take-off, for illuminating the power cable 200.

[0052] In the preferred embodiment discussed in the present description, the right-hand winding 140 of the energy take-off, the left-hand winding 120 of the energy take-off, the energy consuming device 150 and the LED strip 160 are covered for protection by a transparent insulating tape 170.

[0053] If the power cable 200 is already installed and connected to the mining machine or equipment 203 in the productive zone of the mine or shaft, then the process of extracting energy and illuminating the cable with light-emitting diodes is carried out as shown in the diagram of Fig. 4.

[0054] As already indicated, the power cable 200 disclosed in the present utility model comprises at least one phase conductor 210, 220, 230, combined with at least one electromagnetic field energy extraction device 100, with at least one grounding core / conductor 280, 281 and with at least one grounding control core / conductor 290, providing the pitch length and the winding direction of the wire in accordance with the specifications of the applicable standards, and forming a core from the wires assembled together; In addition, if it is a cable with its own backlight, then it preferably includes a transparent tension tape 270 wound in a spiral around the assembled wires (see Fig. 1) in the direction and with an overlap, as necessary, and the transparency characteristics of the tension tape allow the light emitted by the LED elements 160 to pass outward, so that the power cable 200 can be visible to users in dark conditions.

[0055] The power cable 200 disclosed in the present utility model also preferably comprises, if it is a cable with its own backlight, an inner sheath 260 (see Fig. 1) covering a core of bundled wires, manufactured using an extrusion process from a transparent thermoplastic material that provides protection for these wires, and the characteristics of its transparency allow the light emitted by the LED elements to pass out, so that the power cable can be visible to users.

[0056] The power cable 200 disclosed in the present utility model also comprises, as a cable with its own backlight, preferably an outer sheath 261 located over an inner sheath 260, manufactured using an extrusion process from a colored transparent thermoplastic material, wherein its color includes different colors for the outer sheath 261, so that the most suitable color can be selected to ensure the contrast of the power cable with the environment in which it will be used, and the power cable 200 can be visible in daylight conditions. Similarly, the colored transparent outer sheath 261 allows the light emitted by the LEDs 160 to pass outward, so that the power cable 200 can also be visible in dark conditions.

[0057] In one non-limiting embodiment of the power cable 200, which is a cable with its own backlight, the tension band 270 also contains a colored transparent material, and its color also includes different colors, so that the most appropriate color can be selected to ensure the contrast of the power cable with the environment in which it will be used; and in this embodiment, a transparent thermoplastic sheath 260 is also used, located on top of the tension band 270 and on top of the bundle of assembled wires to protect them. The transparency of the sheath 260 and the color of the transparent tension band 270 allow the light emitted by the LED elements 260 to pass out, so that the power cable can be easily seen both in the dark and in daylight conditions.

[0058] Power cable 200 of the presented embodiment of the present utility model, as a cable with its own illumination, is preferably used for electrically driven machines 203, such as electric excavators, drilling machines, and other equipment operating in productive areas of mineral deposits. The cable with its own illumination is clearly visible to machine and other equipment operators in both dark and daylight conditions. Thus, when operators detect the power cable, they can avoid damaging the cable with machines or other equipment, significantly reducing the likelihood of accidents, equipment damage, and forced production line downtime.

[0059] The power cable of the presented embodiment of the present utility model includes a new device 100 for collecting electromagnetic energy, capable of receiving energy generated by a minimum electric current passing through a phase wire 210, 220, 230, wherein the novelty lies in the fact that the minimum electric current of the phase wire, required for illuminating the power cable with 200 LEDs 160, is 500 milliamperes. Currently, similar devices require a current value in the phase wire of at least several amperes.

[0060] In a preferred embodiment of the power cable according to the present utility model, the energy extraction device 100 is a device for obtaining electromagnetic energy present in the space around said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230, on which the device 100 is wound, for converting the extracted electromagnetic energy into electrical energy with optimal parameters for powering the device or consuming element, in this case a plurality of light-emitting diodes 160, providing its own illumination of the power cable 200.

[0061] For this, the energy selection device contains a core 110, 130, which is an element made of a material having high magnetic permeability, which includes electrical steel, nanocrystalline iron, nickel-iron alloy (mu-metal), pure iron and other alloys used to select part of the energy of the electromagnetic field arising around said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230 of the power cable 200, and on which at least one electromagnetic induction coil 120, 140 is wound.

[0062] One electromagnetic induction coil 120 is a conductive core, preferably made of copper wire, aluminum, copper-coated aluminum, or any alloy, wound in a counterclockwise spiral around said at least one magnetic field-extracting core 110. In addition, a second energy-extracting coil 140 is used, which has the same configuration as the first coil 120, but is wound in a clockwise spiral around another magnetic field-extracting core 130.

[0063] Each energy selection core 110, 130 is an element made of a material having high magnetic permeability, including electrical steel, nanocrystalline iron, nickel-iron alloy (mu-metal), pure iron and other alloys used to select a portion of the energy of the electromagnetic field arising around said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230 of the power cable 200, and an energy selection coil 120, 140 is wound on this core.

[0064] The energy consuming element 150 is a device that consumes the extracted energy and that is present in each energy extraction coil 120, 140, to power at least one light-emitting diode 160, and in the preferred embodiment, a plurality of light-emitting diodes 160.

[0065] Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment of the present utility model, the power cable 200 is used to supply electrical energy to industrial, commercial, public premises, as well as for other purposes to power electrical equipment that uses low and medium voltage, and the power cable 200 in this preferred embodiment comprises a wire 210, phase 1, a wire 220, phase 2, and a wire 230, phase 3.

[0066] In this preferred embodiment of the power cable according to the present utility model, only the wire 210, phase 1, is provided with a power take-off device 100 wrapped around it, which provides illumination of the power cable 200. In this case, the wire 210, phase 1, of the cable contains:

[0067] a conductive core 211, preferably made of copper or aluminum, through which electrical energy is transmitted;

[0068] screen 212 of the conductive core, made of semiconductor material, for regulating the electric field in the phase wire;

[0069] insulation 213 for protection and electrical insulation of phase wire;

[0070] 214 insulation screen made of semiconductor material for regulating the electric field of the phase wire;

[0071] metal electrostatic screen 215, made of copper wires, which limits the spread of the electric field and diverts currents and electric charges to the ground.

[0072] Similarly, the wire 220, phase 2, forms a second electric wire (conductor), and the third wire 230, phase 3, forms a third wire, forming together with the wire 210, phase 1, a multi-core power cable 200 shown in Fig. 1.

[0073] In turn, at least the wire 210, phase 1, has a 1st protective element 240 made of a plastic material, and a 2nd protective element 241, also made of a plastic material, wherein both protective elements 240, 241 are wound on the wire 210, phase 1, without limiting this location, to protect the energy take-off device 100 from mechanical damage as a result of an impact.

[0074] The connecting screen 250 shown in Fig. 1 is also used on the said at least one phase conductor 210, 220, 230 and is a component made of metal wires arranged in the form of a braid on a plastic inner part for diverting current and electrical charges to the "ground".

[0075] And finally, the inner sheath 260, protecting said at least one wire 210, 220, 230 of the power cable, is an element made of a thermoplastic material that allows the light emitted by the LED elements 160 to come out, so that the power cable 200 can be visible in dark conditions.

[0076] This sheath is complemented by an outer sheath 261, which is a layer placed on top of the inner sheath 260 and made of a transparent but colored thermoplastic material. It allows the light emitted by the LED elements 160 to escape, making the power cable 200 visible in dark conditions. Similarly, the color used for identification can be any color that contrasts with the surrounding surface, making the cable visible to equipment and machine operators in daylight conditions.

[0077] In one of the non-limiting variants of the power cable with its own illumination, during the assembly of the said at least one phase wire 210, 220, 230, combined with the energy take-off device 100, the said at least one grounding core 280, 281 and the said at least one grounding control core 290, the said at least one tightening colored tape 270, including different colors, is placed on the assembled core to provide the corresponding color, so that the power cable 200 contrasts with the environment in which it will be used;

[0078] Accordingly, the assembled core with at least one transparent colored tension tape 270 is placed in a transparent thermoplastic sheath using extrusion to protect the wires. The transparency of this sheath and the color of the transparent tension tape 270 allow the light emitted by the LED elements 160 to pass through, so that the power cable 200 can be easily seen in the dark and in daylight.

[0079] The power cable in the presented embodiment of the present utility model contains a device 100 for collecting electromagnetic energy, which, in turn, includes independent circuits or modules of about 0.5 meters in length, so that if one module fails, then only a portion of the power cable of less than 0.5 meters in length will remain without illumination, which is insignificant, and therefore repair of the device 100 for collecting energy will not be required, that is, this system does not require removal for repair, and there is no need to have spare parts for the device for collecting energy, so that the elimination of repairs ensures a reduction in the costs of operating such cables.

[0080] The application shows and describes preferred embodiments of the utility model. However, those skilled in the art will be able to suggest modifications to these embodiments without departing from the concept disclosed in the application. The embodiments described in this utility model are merely examples and are not limiting.

[0081] Changes and modifications are also possible by excluding any of the described elements or adding any additional functions. All such changes are within the scope of this utility model.

[0082] For example, the materials, shape, and dimensions of the phase conductors may be changed, as may the number of power take-off devices used, as well as their dimensions and materials. The characteristics and color of the transparent sheaths may be changed depending on the characteristics of the territory in which the power cable will be used. Accordingly, the scope of protection is not limited to the variants described in this utility model, but is limited only by the formula below, the scope of which will include all equivalents of the subject matter of the utility model defined by the formula.
