Abstract
Description
[0001] The utility model relates to the field of medicine and medical technology, and specifically to devices intended for excision of skin defects, scars, in particular in plastic surgery, when excising old scars.
[0002] Various types of scalpels produced by the medical industry are widely used in all fields of surgery. However, existing versions require multiple stages to remove old scars, which can create an uneven wound surface, negatively affecting the cosmetic effect in the long term.
[0003] For one-stage excision, scalpels equipped with two blades are used.
[0004] A two-bladed scalpel is known, comprising a rigid handle, a pair of cutting blades protruding outward from one end of the handle in transversely spaced parallel lateral positions across the handle, each blade having a pointed lower edge extending to the outer end of the blade [US 5100391 A, IPC A61B 17 / 32, published 31.03.92].
[0005] A scalpel is known, the blade of which is a curved plate with two sharpened edges [US 5447516 A, IPC A61B 17 / 32, published 09 / 05 / 1995].
[0006] A common disadvantage of these products is the fixed distance between the cutting edges, which greatly limits their use, especially when it is necessary to eliminate a large defect.
[0007] A double scalpel is known for removing scar tissue, containing a screw with a round head for adjusting the distance of the blades [US 3452754 A, IPC A61B 17 / 32, published 01.07.1969].
[0008] A drawback of the known device is the need to use a specific grip, different from the traditional one. The position of the thumb on the screw head makes it difficult to apply the proper blade pressure required for tissue dissection, and also requires learning a new technique for using the scalpel.
[0009] A scalpel handle with two blades is known [RU 2800240 C1, IPC published on 19.07.23], its distal part is made straight, and the middle is divided into two segments, which are made in an arcuate shape with respect to each other and intersect in the proximal part, forming an O-shaped fragment, on the free parts of the segments of the proximal part of the handle on the outside there are projections that fix the blades, while the free parts of the segments of the proximal part of the handle are made flexible [RU 2800240 C1, IPC published on 19.07.23].
[0010] The disadvantage of this device is the need for constant pressure applied by the surgeon's fingers on the O-shaped fragment, since, when the grip is loosened, the blades are spread apart due to the flexibility of the handle, which creates the risk of creating uneven edges when excising old scars.
[0011] A two-blade scalpel is known that has a sliding mechanism with a function for adjusting the distance of the blades [CN 111772738 A, IPC A61B 17 / 3211, published 16.10.20].
[0012] The disadvantage of the known device is the complexity of the design, which makes sterilization difficult at the junction of the gears, the lack of proper rigidity in the moving parts, which can lead to the blades swinging during cutting, as well as inconvenient adjustment of the extension, which requires turning a small wheel located between the knives, which increases the risk of injury to the operator.
[0013] The problem that the utility model is aimed at solving is the creation of an easy-to-handle and convenient-to-use device that allows for a single-stage incision of soft tissues on both sides of a skin defect.
[0014] When implementing the utility model, the stated problem is solved by achieving a technical result, which consists in ensuring reliable fixation in a given position of the blades relative to each other, depending on the size of the scar.
[0015] The specified technical result is achieved by the fact that in the device for excising skin defects, containing two handles with blades secured by a connector, what is new is that it additionally contains a retainer with grooves, which is located between the handles and is installed with the possibility of movement along the slots made in the handles, while the retainer secures the position of the handles due to the presence of grooves.
[0016] Fig. 1 shows a general view of the device for excising skin defects.
[0017] Fig. 2 shows a top view with the handles 2 minimally shifted, the lock 5 is shifted in the slot 4 towards the blades 3.
[0018] Fig. 3 shows a top view with handles 2 extended as far as possible, lock 5 is shifted in slot 4 towards connector 1.
[0019] Fig. 4 shows the retainer 5 (the remaining parts of the device are artificially removed).
[0020] The device for excising skin defects is represented by a connector 1, to which handles 2 are movably attached, wherein each handle contains a blade 3, and in each handle a slot 4 is made for locating a retainer 5 in it, containing grooves 6.
[0021] The retainer 5 is made in the form of a plate, each of the longitudinal sides of which contains protrusions that form grooves 6, the width of each of which corresponds to the thickness of the handles 2 to such an extent that it allows them to be fixed due to the resulting friction.
[0022] The device for excising skin defects is used as follows.
[0023] Before the operation, the surgeon assesses the excision area. After this, handles 2 with blades 3 are moved apart and held in the specified position by moving retainer 5 within slot 4 until its edges fit snugly into grooves 6. Retainer 5 is installed in handles 2 and cannot be removed outside of factory conditions. It can only move toward either connector 1 or blades 3, allowing the desired degree of divergence of the cutting edges relative to each other to be selected.
[0024] The device is then used in the same way as a conventional scalpel, held in the hand like a writing pen.
[0025] After completion of the operation, the product must be disposed of.
[0026] The design of the device for excising skin defects ensures ease of use and effective excision of skin defects by creating the smoothest possible edges of the surgical wound thanks to the secure fixation of the handles in a given position, which eliminates the displacement of the blades relative to each other.
[0027] The description of the utility model is supplemented by an example.
[0028] Example 1. A 24-year-old female patient was admitted to the clinic complaining of an unsatisfactory appearance of her cesarean section scar. After a plastic surgeon examined her medical history and performed additional tests, it was decided to perform a scar tissue resection. After selecting the desired degree of divergence of the cutting edges, the surgeon quickly performed a harmonious incision with one hand, without using a second instrument. The resulting wound was closed with cosmetic sutures. The postoperative period was uneventful.
