Abstract
Description
[0001] Technical field
[0002] The utility model relates to devices for amateur and sport fishing, namely to volumetric artificial baits with articulated body parts, designed for catching pike, pike perch and catfish by casting, uniform wiring and trolling.
[0003] Prior art and known analogues
[0004] Closest analogue: U S5522170 A - Fishing lure. This lure features two hinged sections and a flexible tail, creating an irregular swimming motion.
[0005] Additional prior art: US 6647660 B1 - Fishing lure with nylon hair tail. Known is a composite body with a hinge in the middle section, enhancing the lateral movement of the tail section.
[0006] In well-known composite wobblers, the relative rotation of the sections is determined primarily by the free play of the hinge, the weight of the tail section, and water resistance. At low speeds, the tail section may not deflect sufficiently, while during acceleration, crosscurrents, or sudden jerks, it may rotate excessively. This leads to an unstable play frequency, sections hitting each other, hook tangling, and the inability to repeat the selected mode at a different speed. A free hinge prevents the mechanical resistance from being preset to match the weight of the sections and the fishing conditions.
[0007] Technical task
[0008] The technical challenge is to create a composite wobbler in which the resistance to mutual rotation of the sections is set directly in the hinge joint and maintained during the wiring without external devices.
[0009] Technical result
[0010] The technical result consists in expanding the range of stable play, repeatable adjustment of the oscillation amplitude, reducing excessive folding of the body, reducing impact loads on the hinge and the likelihood of hook overlap.
[0011] The essence of the design
[0012] This result is achieved by connecting the head and tail sections with a transverse axis around which a torsional elastic element is positioned. One end of the elastic element interacts with the head section, the other with the tail section. An adjusting sleeve rotates relative to one of the sections and is locked in several positions, changing the pre-torque of the elastic element. Rotation limiters set the maximum angles and prevent the sections from collapsing before the hooks engage.
[0013] Expanded description of design and operation
[0014] The hull is formed by a head and tail section, with a hydrodynamic gap between them. Two lugs are located at the rear of the head section, and a central lug is located between them at the front of the tail section. A transverse axis passes through the aligned holes of the lugs. This arrangement creates a single-degree hinge, allowing rotation primarily in the horizontal plane and limiting unwanted vertical play.
[0015] A torsion elastic element is mounted on the transverse axis. In its basic form, it is a cylindrical torsion spring with two bent ends. The first end fits into a groove in the head section, and the second fits into a groove in the adjusting sleeve connected to the tail section. The sleeve is equipped with radial recesses that interact with a spring-loaded lock. Shifting the sleeve between the recesses changes the initial angle between the spring ends, thereby changing the moment counteracting the rotation of the tail section.
[0016] With minimal pre-twist, the tail section easily deflects under the current, creating a wide, low-frequency action. This mode is suitable for slow retrieves in still water and for passive fish. With the sleeve in the middle position, the return torque increases, the amplitude decreases, and the frequency of the transverse oscillations increases. With maximum pre-twist, the tail section moves in a narrow sector and maintains stability during fast trolling and in current.
[0017] Turn-stop stops are located on the ends of the sections facing each other. Elastomer pads can be installed between the stops. During a sharp jerk or impact, the tail section reaches its maximum angle, after which the load is supported by the stops rather than the spring coils. The pads reduce impact noise, prevent chipping of the polymer housing, and reduce kickback on the axle.
[0018] The cross axle is mounted in bushings made of wear-resistant polymer or corrosion-resistant metal. Thin axial washers can be placed on both sides of the hinge to reduce friction at the ends of the lugs and prevent lateral jamming when sand gets in. A removable cover conceals the adjusting sleeve and lock, allowing access for cleaning and replacing the spring cassette.
[0019] The force from the fish is transferred from the bow loop through the reinforcing insert of the head section to the hook loops. The hinge joint plays a role in creating the action, but it is not the only link holding the hook. When the tail hook is placed on the tail section, an internal metal bracket connects the hook loop to the pivot point of the hinge, reducing the load on the body walls.
[0020] When cast, the sections are positioned close to the longitudinal axis due to the spring's pre-tension. This reduces the chaotic folding of the hull in the air. Upon landing, the oncoming flow deflects the tail section, the spring accumulates energy, and returns it through the neutral position. The alternation of hydrodynamic deflection and elastic return creates stable oscillations. During a sideways gust of current, the elastic moment prevents the tail from drifting to one side for an extended period.
[0021] Versions available with a torsion spring, flat elastic plate, or elastomer insert. For large trolling wobblers, a replaceable cassette containing the axle, spring, and adjusting sleeve is preferred. The cassette is removed after removing the cover, allowing you to change the stiffness range without disassembling the body and match it to the weight of the tail section.
[0022] Technical disclosure of claims 2-8
[0023] Item 2. The torsion spring located around the axis creates a compact restoring moment without protruding rods.
[0024] Item 3. The radial recesses of the sleeve and the spring-loaded locking pin maintain the selected pre-torque during vibration and jerking.
[0025] Item 4. The interchangeable cassette combines the axle, spring and bushing, allowing you to change the stiffness range without damaging the sections.
[0026] Item 5. Elastomer pads on the stops dampen the impact of sections and protect the ends of the body.
[0027] Item 6. Axle washers reduce eye friction and stabilize the horizontal movement of the tail section.
[0028] Item 7. The tail stabilizer increases the resistance of the tail section and coordinates its movement with the selected stiffness.
[0029] Item 8. The waterproof cover prevents sand and plant particles from reaching the retainer and spring.
[0030] Execution example
[0031] This wobbler has a total length of 120 mm and weighs 28 g. The head and tail sections are molded from impact-resistant polymer. The eyes are reinforced with stainless steel bushings, and the axle is 2 mm in diameter. The axle is fitted with a torsion spring made of 0.45 mm wire and an adjusting bushing with three locking positions. Stops limit the rotation of the tail section according to the selected mode, and elastomer pads prevent hard contact between the ends. For slow retrieves, the bushing is moved to the first position, for steady retrieves – to the second, and for trolling – to the third. In all modes, the sections return to their longitudinal position after the lateral load is removed.
[0032] Relationship between design and technical result
[0033] Changing the pre-torque directly changes the mechanical torque required to deflect the tail section. Therefore, the same hydrodynamic force produces different rotation amplitudes. The stops absorb the load at the maximum deflection, and the elastic element returns the section to its neutral position. The combination of an adjustable spring, a locking sleeve, and stops ensures repeatable adjustment, reduces body deflection, and maintains stable play as speed changes.
[0034] Brief description of drawings
[0035] Fig. 1 shows a general view of a composite wobbler with adjustable stiffness of the inter-sectional connection. The design comprises a front ring 1 for attaching a fishing line or leader, a head section 2, a diving blade 3, a ventral tee 4 located on the lower part of the head section, a torsion spring 5, an adjusting sleeve 6, limit stops 7, a tail section 8 and a tail tee 9.
[0036] Head section 2 is the main load-bearing part of the lure. A ring 1 is installed in its forward area, providing attachment of the tackle and transferring the pulling force from the fishing line to the lure body. The lower front part of the head section contains a diving blade 3, oriented at an angle to the wobbler's longitudinal axis and designed to generate hydrodynamic lifting and diving force as the lure moves through the water. A ventral hook 4 is suspended on the underside of the head section.
[0037] Tail section 8 is connected to the head section via a hinged joint located in the central portion of the lure. A torsion spring 5 is located within this joint, providing elastic resistance to the mutual rotation of the sections. Spring 5 is mounted coaxially to the hinge and exerts torsional force. As a result, when the tail section deflects relative to the head section, a restoring moment is generated, tending to return the sections to their original or near-original positions.
[0038] Adjusting sleeve 6 is located outside the hinge assembly, allowing for the preload of torsion spring 5 to be adjusted. Rotating or repositioning sleeve 6 changes the spring's preload, thereby increasing or decreasing the stiffness of the inter-sectional joint. This changes the amplitude and nature of the action of tail section 8 when guiding the lure. With less preload, the tail section swings more freely, providing a wide, sweeping action, while with more preload, its oscillations become more restrained and stable.
[0039] Limit stops 7 are located in the hinge area and are designed to limit the maximum angle of mutual rotation of the sections. The presence of these stops prevents the wobbler from folding excessively, reduces the likelihood of hook tangling, and improves the stability of the lure's trajectory. A tail treble hook 9 is installed at the rear end of tail section 8.
[0040] Thus, the figure illustrates the design of a composite wobbler, in which the combination of hinged sections, torsion spring 5, adjusting sleeve 6 and stops 7 provides the ability to adjust the rigidity of the inter-sectional unit and adapt the play of the bait to different wiring speeds, running depths and flow conditions.
[0041] Industrial applicability
[0042] The design can be mass-produced using polymer section injection molding, metal reinforcement stamping, torsion spring winding, and articulated cassette assembly. Standard corrosion-resistant axles, bushings, spring wire, elastomer pads, split rings, and fish hooks are used. Section sizes and spring stiffness vary depending on the lure weight and the required speed range.
