Abstract
Description
[0001] Technical field
[0002] The invention relates to devices for throwing a net, intended for remote capture / immobilization of moving objects by throwing a net equipped with loads, including for countering small-sized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and for use in security, law enforcement and / or special technical means.
[0003] Technology Level
[0004] In this field of technology, solutions are known in which a net in a folded state and loads connected to it are accelerated in a guide channel, and the opening of the net is ensured by the scattering of loads (due to the geometry of the channels, gas dynamics, rotation of the throwing element, spreading elements, etc.).
[0005] Below are the identified sources of prior art indicating their shortcomings in relation to the task of obtaining a net throwing device (net launcher) with the ability to increase the net area while maintaining the transverse dimensions of the guide channel and suitability for installation on a carrier (including UAV).
[0006] 1) Patent RU 2230276 C1 - "Device and method for throwing a net"
[0007] The document discloses a device comprising a bell (housing) with several guide channels located along its perimeter; each channel contains a load connected on its side to a network located in the internal cavity of the housing; the guide channels are made of variable diameter and are located at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the housing.
[0008] Disadvantages:
[0009] - the use of several guide channels located around the perimeter structurally increases the transverse dimensions and complicates the layout (which is critical for portable / onboard designs);
[0010] - scaling the network area may lead to an increase in the dimensions of the body and complicate the stowage / distribution of cargo;
[0011] - a design with multiple channels and mating nodes is usually technologically more complex (assembly, alignment, repeatability of characteristics);
[0012] - the throwing range of such devices is extremely small and is about 10 meters.
[0013] 2) Patent RU 2410625 C2 - "Net for non-lethal immobilization and device for remotely throwing the net"
[0014] A weight network formed into a cylindrical assembly is disclosed, wherein the weights have projections / elements that interact with helical grooves of a guide channel; throwing from the guide channel is described, including weight holding / binding elements (a cup with elastic petals / ring) and a loading / initiating part.
[0015] Disadvantages:
[0016] - the requirement for helical grooves in the guide channel and special weight geometry (protrusions / engagement) complicates manufacturing and limits compatibility with the “universal” guide channel;
[0017] - The design of the cylindrical load assembly with retaining elements may be sensitive to tolerances, contamination and wear;
[0018] - Increasing the network area can lead to a significant increase in the length / weight of the assembly and to increased requirements for unpacking stability.
[0019] 3) Patent US 9134099 B2 - "Net throwing device"
[0020] A projectile module is disclosed with an axial space for a net and a plurality of pipes / channels around the axial space, in which loads connected to the net are placed; ejection is achieved by supplying compressed air, which passes into the axial channel and into the pipes with loads, ensuring the dispersion of loads and the straightening of the net.
[0021] Disadvantages:
[0022] - the presence of multiple pipes / channels around the axial space structurally increases the cross-section of the thrown block and / or volume requirements;
[0023] - the complication of flow distribution across multiple channels can reduce the repeatability of cargo dispersion parameters;
[0024] - Scaling the network area with a limited guide channel diameter can be difficult, since the arrangement of loads is tied to “circumferential” channels.
[0025] 4) application EP 3623742 A1
[0026] A net throwing system is described, including a guide channel for accelerating a multi-component projectile (several weights connected by a net), wherein the opening of the net is achieved by radial forces on the weights due to the rotation of the projectile; to impart rotation, a twisted guide channel and a correspondingly twisted projectile are provided.
[0027] Disadvantages:
[0028] - the need for a twisted guide channel shape and a consistent projectile shape complicates the design and may increase costs / technological risks;
[0029] - network opening "through rotation" imposes restrictions on acceleration / speed modes and opening stability when parameters vary;
[0030] - the document itself notes that state-of-the-art solutions for net-shooters are often “complex and / or heavy and / or space-intensive,” which confirms the relevance of the task of reducing weight / dimensions.
[0031] 5) patent RU59794U1_20061227 (international application WO 2008 / 010744 A1) - “Device for throwing a net”, which is the closest analogue.
[0032] Describes a net throwing device with a guide channel and means for throwing the folded net; the net is equipped with weights around the perimeter, and also includes a wad / intermediate body element with slots for the weights and a means for simultaneously pushing (radially) the weights out of the cross-section of the guide channel during firing / ejection.
[0033] Prototype RU59794 deploys weights primarily through gas-dynamic action or spring elements, without the use of a movable mechanical deployment system. However, with this design, radial pressure on the weights occurs over an extremely small area after exiting the guide channel and for a very short period of time, limiting the ability to impart sufficient radial momentum to the weights. Furthermore, the radial acceleration path of the weights is structurally limited by the internal transverse dimension of the guide channel, further reducing the efficiency of net deployment, especially when using weights of sufficient mass to deploy the required net area.As a result, scaling the network area in such solutions is difficult and actually requires increasing the device's dimensions, including the transverse dimensions of the guide channel, which degrades the device's performance characteristics.
[0034] The technical task of the claimed device is to create a device for throwing a net that ensures the opening of the net by radially spreading the weights after the container leaves the guide channel while maintaining a small transverse dimension of the guide channel (small transverse dimension of the device), which is important for placing the device on UAVs and other carriers that are sensitive to aerodynamic drag, as well as ensuring the possibility of increasing the area of the deployed net without increasing the transverse dimension of the guide channel.
[0035] The technical result consists in ensuring the opening of the net by means of radial acceleration of weights during the opening of the movable elements of the container structure after the container leaves the guide channel, as well as in ensuring the possibility of increasing the area of the net while maintaining the same transverse dimension of the guide channel and, accordingly, without increasing the aerodynamic drag when the device is placed on the UAV.
[0036] The claimed technical result is achieved in that the device for throwing a net contains a guide channel, a source of throwing energy and is configured to throw a container with a net and weights connected to it by means of connecting threads, placed in the guide channel, wherein the container is formed by movable structural elements configured to be in a folded position when the container is placed in the guide channel and with the ability to open in a radial direction after the container exits the guide channel, wherein the net is placed inside the container in a folded state, and the weights are placed on the outside of the container and, when the movable structural elements open, receive radial acceleration that ensures the opening of the net, wherein the outer contour of the container in the folded position of the movable structural elements is made to ensure the placement and movement of the container in the guide channel.
[0037] In a preferred embodiment, at least three movable structural elements are located around the perimeter of the container's outer contour, with at least one weight located on the outer side of each movable structural element. In a variant design, the device is equipped with a retaining device configured to hold the movable structural elements in a folded position during preparation for launching and / or when placing the container in the guide channel. In various embodiments, the launching energy source is implemented in the form of a powder, pneumatic, or pyrotechnic initiator, creating a pressure pulse for accelerating the container. In a variant design, the container is made elongated along the axis of the guide channel while maintaining the outer contour of the container, ensuring the placement and movement of the container in the guide channel for placing the net.
[0038] Disclosure of the essence of the invention
[0039] The net throwing device is designed as a module placed in the guide channel (trunk).
[0040] Inside the guide channel there is a container formed by movable structural elements.
[0041] In the present description, movable structural elements of a container are understood to mean structural elements of the container shell (parts of the container wall) designed with the possibility of transition from a folded position, in which said movable structural elements form the outer contour of the container for movement in a guide channel, to an open position after the container exits the guide channel by moving said elements outward with a radial component, wherein said movement can be realized, for example, by rotation around an axis, elastic bending, translational extension, expansion along guides or in another way that ensures radial spreading of the weights.The movable elements of the structure can be made, for example, in the form of separate segments, flaps, petals, or in the form of longitudinal strips of the wall formed by longitudinal slots, while the container can be made either collapsible or non-collapsible, for example, in the form of a glass with a solid bottom and walls cut into longitudinal strips.
[0042] When folded, the movable elements of the structure form the outer contour of the container, due to which the container passes along the guide channel without opening.
[0043] The outer contour of the container when the movable structural elements are folded is designed to match the inner contour of the guide channel. These contours can be round, polygonal, oval, profiled, etc. (for example, the guide channel can be made from a pipe of the appropriate profile) while maintaining the ability to move the container within the guide channel without jamming or premature opening of the movable structural elements.
[0044] After the container exits the guide channel, the movable elements of the structure are free to move outward and open radially. As the movable elements open, the weights attached to them are scattered radially. The scattering of the weights pulls the net through the connecting threads, allowing the net to open.
[0045] The opening of the movable elements of the structure may be initiated and / or ensured by one or more actions (options), including:
[0046] - an elastic opening device (1) that creates a force that leads to the beginning of the opening of the movable elements of the structure after the container leaves the guide channel, wherein the elastic opening device can be made, for example, in the form of a compression spring, an extension spring, a rubber (elastomeric) part, a pneumatic cylinder, or due to the elastic deformation of the movable elements of the structure themselves, which in a free state are spread outward, and when loaded into the guide channel are bent / compressed with the accumulation of elastic energy;
[0047] - an expansion device (2), which applies an expanding force to the movable elements of the structure and thereby forcibly starts their opening;
[0048] - a guide channel design, such as a rigid projection / cam on the guide channel that interacts with a lever or stop of at least one movable element of the container design when the container exits the guide channel, thereby initiating opening;
[0049] - by the pressure of a pneumatic, powder or pyrotechnic initiator (3), designed to create an additional pressure pulse that acts on the moving elements of the structure and ensures their opening after the container leaves the guide channel, while the said initiator can be designed with a delay in response relative to the main shot;
[0050] - the impact of the oncoming air flow (4) during the flight of the container, in which the air flow creates an aerodynamic force on the moving elements of the structure and promotes their outward opening;
[0051] - the effect of the residual pressure of the shot initiator (5), which, after the container leaves the guide channel, can act on the elements of the opening unit and contribute to the initiation of the opening of the moving elements of the structure.
[0052] These actions are variants of the deployment mechanism. The essence of the solution is that the container is designed with movable structural elements that, when folded, form the outer contour of the container for movement within a guide channel. After the container exits the guide channel, they open radially, dispersing the weights and enabling the net to deploy.
[0053] Placement of net, weights and connecting threads
[0054] The net is placed inside the container in its stowed state. It is stowed so that when the movable elements of the structure are opened, the net begins to emerge without snagging or requiring any "pushing"—that is, the net should freely pull out of the container under the tension created by the weights (Fig. 2, symbol 9).
[0055] The weights are placed on the outside of the movable structural elements of the container, preferably in pockets / nests (including recessed ones), or on platforms, in holders or by other positioning method, while the location of the weights is selected so that in the folded position of the movable structural elements, the weights are located within the outer transverse dimension of the container, consistent with the inner transverse dimension of the guide channel (see Fig. 4).
[0056] The practical meaning of this arrangement is as follows: while the container is in the guide channel (trunk), the weights are held within the transverse size of the container, and after leaving the guide channel, the weights, together with the moving elements of the structure, are able to scatter radially.
[0057] Each weight is connected to the net with a connecting thread. The connecting threads are laid along with the net and lead out of the container's interior into the attachment area to the weights so that when the movable structural elements are deployed, the threads immediately become taut and begin to pull the net. The connecting threads can be routed, for example, through slots / windows in the movable structural elements or through the end of the container. The critical point isn't the exit location, but rather that the thread doesn't fray on the edges or form "loop" loops when the movable structural element is deployed.
[0058] To ensure uniform deployment, the weights are distributed symmetrically across the movable elements of the structure (as in Fig. 2—weights are located on each deployable element). As a result, when the deployable elements of the structure deploy, the weights diverge in different directions and stretch the net along the periphery, forming an deployable net.
[0059] Holding the movable elements of the structure in a folded position and preparing for throwing
[0060] While the container is in the guide channel (trunk), the walls of the guide channel physically prevent the moving elements of the structure from opening. This is the primary "lock" of the folded state: the container moves along the guide channel as a single body with an outer contour aligned with the inner contour of the guide channel and does not open prematurely.
[0061] For ease of loading, a holding device can be used to temporarily hold the moving parts of the structure in a closed position while the container is being prepared and inserted into the guide channel. The holding device can be designed in various ways (e.g., a ring, clamp, tie, or lock), or, in the simplest version, it may be completely absent—the moving parts are held manually until the container is inserted into the guide channel, after which the guide channel takes over.
[0062] Furthermore, the movable structural elements themselves may be provided with mutual locking elements, implemented, for example, in the form of hooks, projections, grooves, latches, or other mating elements on the edges, ensuring their temporary fastening together in the closed position during preparation of the device for charging and / or maintaining the movable structural elements in the closed position until their opening after the container exits the guide channel. In this case, the container may be designed either as a collapsible (forming separate movable structural elements) or as a non-collapsible one, when the movable structural elements are formed as parts of a single container shell. In particular, the container may be designed as a cup with a solid bottom and a wall having longitudinal slits forming longitudinal wall strips representing the aforementioned movable structural elements.
[0063] After the container exits the guide channel, the constraint from the walls disappears, and the movable structural elements begin to open outward (Fig. 2, showing the opening of the movable structural elements). As the movable structural elements open, the weights begin to move radially and, through connecting threads, pull the net out of the container. After opening, the container can separate into sections, remain connected by its bottom and / or connecting element, or otherwise not impede the flight of the net due to increased aerodynamic drag.
[0064] Throwing and opening of movable structural elements
[0065] The container is accelerated in the guide channel by an external energy source. The specific energy source is not relevant to the net launching device and can be any, provided it ensures sufficient forward movement of the container along the guide channel. Examples of energy sources that can be used include a powder or pneumatic initiator, a pyrotechnic gas source, a compressed gas tank, or other launching devices.
[0066] During the throwing process, the container moves along a guide channel with the movable structural elements folded. The walls of the guide channel prevent the movable structural elements from opening and ensure the container's directional movement. After the container exits the guide channel, the restriction from the walls disappears, allowing the movable structural elements to open outward.
[0067] The initiation of the opening of the movable elements of the structure after exiting the guide channel can be performed in different ways. Fig. 3 shows the variants of forced opening, which can be used both individually and in combination: by an elastic opening device (1); an expanding device (2); the pressure of a pneumatic or powder initiator (3); the effect of an oncoming air flow (4); the effect of the residual pressure of the shot initiator (5). In a variant design, the initiation of opening can also be initiated by the design of the guide channel, for example, a protrusion / cam interacting with the lever / stop of the movable element of the structure when the container exits the guide channel.
[0068] When the movable structural elements open, the weights placed on the movable structural elements undergo radial movement. The connecting threads become taut and pull the net out of the opening container, causing the net to stretch and open.
[0069] The container's movable structural elements are not structurally connected to the net and, after deployment, do not contribute to the net's retention. After exiting the guide channel and deployment, the movable structural elements may remain connected to each other via a connecting element and / or the container's bottom, or they may separate. Due to increased aerodynamic drag, the container elements do not impede the net's flight.
[0070] Thus, the net throwing device is a module compatible with various launching devices: the container in the folded position is placed and accelerated in the guide channel, and the opening of the net is ensured by the opening of the movable elements of the structure after the container leaves the guide channel with radial scattering of weights.
[0071] The inner contour of the guide channel determines the maximum outer contour (transverse dimension) of the container when the moving structural elements are folded, as the container must be inserted into the guide channel and move within it without jamming. Maintaining a small transverse dimension of the guide channel is crucial, as increasing the transverse dimension directly increases the device's cross-section and, consequently, aerodynamic drag. For deployment of the net launcher on midsection-sensitive carriers, including UAVs, excess aerodynamic drag is critical, as it degrades flight performance, reduces range and flight time, and limits the permissible configuration and payload weight.
[0072] The claimed solution circumvents this limitation on transverse dimensions by placing the net inside the container. The net area is increased not by increasing the transverse dimension of the guide channel, but by increasing the container's length along the guide channel's axis while maintaining the container's outer contour (transverse dimension) consistent with the inner contour of the guide channel. With a fixed outer contour, increasing the container's length increases the internal volume available for laying the net. This increased internal volume allows for more net material to be placed inside the container, thereby increasing the total length of the net's threads / cords and, consequently, allowing for a larger net area to be deployed.Thus, the increase in the area of the network is realized by longitudinal expansion of the container with the transverse dimensions of the guide channel remaining unchanged, which allows for an increase in the area of the deployable network without increasing the transverse dimensions of the device and without deteriorating the aerodynamic characteristics when installed on a carrier.

[0091] Example of the invention
[0092] In this example, the net throwing device contains (see Fig. 1-4) an elastic opening device 1, an expanding device 2, a source of throwing energy that creates pressure (not shown in the figures), a guide channel (barrel) 6, a container 7 formed by movable structural elements 8, a net 9 and weights 10. The weights 10 are connected to the net 9 by means of connecting threads.
[0093] Before firing, the net 9 is placed inside the container 7 so that its exit begins under tension from the connecting threads and does not require pushing. The weights 10 are placed in pockets on the outer surfaces of the movable elements of the structure 8 along the longitudinal axis of the container 7. The connecting threads are placed together with the net 9 and are brought out to the attachment areas of the weights 10 so that when the movable elements of the structure 8 are opened, the threads immediately go into tension and begin to pull the net 9. For ease of loading, the movable elements of the structure 8 are brought into a folded position and held either manually or with a holding device (not shown).
[0094] After this, the container 7 is inserted into the guide channel 6, where the walls of the guide channel 6 keep the movable elements of the structure 8 from opening.
[0095] The shot is fired by launching the propelling energy source. The specific nature of the propelling energy source in this example is not crucial to the nature of the device and can be implemented by various means that generate a pressure pulse. Under the action of pressure, container 7 accelerates and moves within guide channel 6 while the movable elements of structure 8 are folded. In this section, guide channel 6 performs two functions: it directs the movement and prevents the radial opening of movable elements of structure 8, maintaining container 7's compactness throughout the entire acceleration.
[0096] After the container 7 exits the guide channel 6, the restriction from the walls disappears, and the opening of the movable elements of the structure 8 is initiated by one or more actions shown in Fig. 3. In one embodiment, the opening is initiated by the expanding device 2, which applies an expanding force to the movable elements of the structure 8 and sets the initial outward opening. In another embodiment, the opening is initiated due to the elastic energy in the elastic opening device 1, which creates an opening force. Additionally, the process can be supported by the action of the oncoming air flow 4 on the diverging movable elements of the structure 8, as well as by the action of the residual pressure 5 in the tail section area, if it is present in a specific starting embodiment.
[0097] As the movable structural elements 8 unfold, the weights 10 begin to move radially and diverge (see Figs. 2 and 3). This immediately creates tension in the connecting threads, and the net 9 begins to extend from the opening container 7. At the initial stage of flight, the net's unfolding occurs as an unpacking: the net 9 follows the diverging weights 10, and its periphery is formed by the trajectories of the weights 10, which fly off in different directions. At the subsequent stage, the net 9 enters an extended state, since the weights 10 continue to move by inertia and keep the edges of the net 9 spaced apart.
[0098] During flight, an open configuration is formed: weights 10 act as leading masses, providing tension, and net 9 occupies the space between them. Upon encountering an object, net 9 covers it by maintaining the tension around its periphery created by weights 10 and by the fact that net 9 is already open at the moment of contact. Subsequent behavior is then determined by the parameters of net 9, the mass of weights 10, and the kinematics of interaction. The principle remains that the opening is ensured by the design of container 7, formed by moving structural elements 8, and their opening after container 7 exits guide channel 6.
[0099] In another embodiment, the movable structural elements of the container are formed as separate segments (e.g., made of a polymeric material) that, when folded, form the outer contour of the container, aligned with the inner contour of the guide channel, and after the container exits the guide channel, they open outward and remain in the open position. In this case, the movable structural elements may remain mechanically connected to one another by means of a connecting member (e.g., a ring-shaped or frame-shaped connecting element, also made, for example, of a polymeric material) and / or by means of the bottom portion of the container, resulting in the formation of a single "spread" (unfolded) container structure with an increased frontal area after opening.
[0100] In the example indicated, the bottom of the container may be structurally integrated with a propelling piston-cartridge, realized, for example, in the form of a metal (e.g., aluminum) housing, the transverse dimension of which corresponds to the internal contour of the guide channel. In a variant embodiment, the propelling piston-cartridge contains a sealed volume with a gas-generating unit and / or reaction channels (nozzles) designed to generate a pressure pulse during propelling and / or to create additional impacts after the container exits the guide channel. Moreover, the movable structural elements of the container and the component connecting them may be secured to the bottom and / or to the housing of the propelling piston-cartridge in such a way that, after deployment, their combined kinematics as a single container unit are maintained.
[0101] Due to the increased aerodynamic drag of the deployed container structure after deployment and the radial dispersion of the weights, the container structure slows in flight and "lags" behind the deploying net, as a result of which the container does not impede the net's flight to the target. In a practical embodiment, it is possible to implement the movable elements of the structure and / or the component connecting them with a calculated strength (intentionally weakened, for example, along the mating lines), so that, under the influence of the oncoming airflow after exiting the guide channel, they can separate from the container assembly (for example, break off and / or destroy the connecting component) and quickly decelerate, falling out at a short distance from the firing point. The propelling piston-cartridge, meanwhile, continues its flight along the axis and can pass through the deploying net without disrupting its deployment or impeding its movement.
[0102] In this embodiment, it is assumed that some of the container elements are disposable, and reuse may be limited, for example, by the possibility of reusing the propelling piston cartridge upon its discovery and subsequent assembly of the device; however, reuse may be impractical in field conditions.
[0103] Furthermore, in another embodiment of the above example, the container may be designed not as segmented (disassemblable into individual parts), but as a non-disassemblable one, for example, in the form of a glass with a solid bottom and a wall having longitudinal slits, forming wall sections cut into longitudinal strips, which constitute the movable elements of the container structure. In this embodiment, said longitudinal wall strips, when folded, form the outer contour of the container for movement in the guide channel, and after the container exits the guide channel, they diverge (deflect) outward, providing radial separation of the weights and opening of the net. They may remain connected to each other through the solid bottom and / or through a connecting element, providing the above-described effect of increased aerodynamic drag of the opened container structure.
