Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to artillery ammunition for tank weapons, in particular to shots with armor-piercing sub-caliber projectiles (APS), and is intended to test the ballistic characteristics of the propellant charges of these shots.
[0002] In the field of armament and military equipment, there are various test facilities designed primarily for testing weapon systems and / or barrels for them.
[0003] The level of this field of technology is characterized by arrow-shaped projectiles for testing weapon systems for suitability for practical firing, which can be used to test barrels for compliance with strength and internal ballistic requirements and conditions of standard operation according to controlled parameters of the internal ballistics of barrels when firing test projectiles (see, for example, patents RU No. 2728020 and No. 213249, F42B 10 / 08).
[0004] The closest in technical essence, the prototype, is the known system-testing projectile (patent RU No. 2728020 IPC F42B 10 / 08, "System-testing projectile"), containing a central core placed inside a caliber pallet, on the centering thickening of which a polymer driving belt is mounted, and its stern is closed with an insulating cap made of a hardening compound, overlapping at the joint the conformal skirt of the elastic obturator installed in the belt undercut of the pallet, the core is equipped with a shank with aerodynamic blades, on the periphery of which basing pins are fixed, and a ballistic tip having a landing pin, the pallet is made monolithic teardrop-shaped, to the head flat end of which a mass-replacing tip is adjoined, rigidly connected to the pallet by means of a threaded connection of its mounting pin, while from the opposite end of the pallet the central core is screwed in along the thread until it stops against the mounting pin of the tip,and the insulating cap is fixed directly to the stern of the pallet.
[0005] The disadvantages of the prototype are:
[0006] - insufficient degree of versatility of the testing device, designed only to control a narrow range of tests for testing only the barrels of weapon systems;
[0007] - insufficient performance;
[0008] - high cost of testing equipment and labor intensity during testing.
[0009] The disadvantage of the prototype design is that its construction is intended for testing the barrels of weapon systems and does not allow for the full testing of propellant charges intended specifically for the BPS: with an increase in the maximum load, the BPS may be destroyed while maintaining the integrity of the gun barrel.
[0010] Serial and newly developed APFSDS projectiles are complex designs that require an equally complex manufacturing process and the use of specialized materials. The complexity of manufacture and the high cost of materials are due to the intended purpose of the ammunition: the requirements for modern weapons are high, and to meet these requirements, modern developments and designs, the latest materials, and modern production equipment are used. Therefore, it is impractical to use serial projectiles to test the ballistic characteristics of projectiles.
[0011] The design of the proposed invention (ballistic system test prototype) was created during the development of ammunition, to reduce the overall cost of experimental design and testing. Use of this invention will also simplify and reduce the cost of serial production in the future.
[0012] Unlike the existing prototype, the new invention offers the potential for expanded use: in addition to its use for testing barrels and guns, its primary purpose is to select and test propellant charges without using live ammunition. Unlike the existing projectile design, the new invention requires the development of a ballistic system-testing prototype, including the creation of an identical belt volume, for each individual live projectile. It also allows for ballistic testing, achieving accurate results that meet the requirements for live projectiles.
[0013] The technical task is to simplify the design, eliminate expensive materials for the BPS body, simplify the assembly process, eliminate the destruction of products during testing in the event of exceeding the required pressures, while maintaining the design of the propellant charge and the process of its assembly.
[0014] The required technical result is achieved through design solutions that ensure the required ballistic characteristics of the shot as a whole:
[0015] - the mass of the ballistic system test model is equal to the mass of the combat projectile - the exclusion of the heavy sub-caliber casing of the BPS and the use of a solid caliber casing made of lighter material;
[0016] - the design solution for the method of conducting and arranging the support units of the model is identical to the BPS;
[0017] - the volume of the belt part of the model and the projectile are equal;
[0018] - the design of the belt part of the model corresponds as closely as possible to the design of the combat product;
[0019] - increasing the strength characteristics of the model in comparison with the BPS - a one-piece body and (or) more durable materials for the model's components.
[0020] Furthermore, the invention enables the economic solution of reducing the financial costs of R&D and testing of the BPS during serial production by using less expensive mock-ups instead of expensive live ammunition. This goal is achieved through:
[0021] - a new design of the model, simpler in comparison with the combat projectile, and does not require complex processes for the production of parts;
[0022] - use of scarce and inexpensive materials.
[0023] A BPS generally consists of a ballistic tip, a subcaliber body, a detachable caliber driver, fastening bushings, sealing rubbers, obturating devices, and a stabilizer. The new invention, however, consists of a stabilizer 1, a non-detachable caliber body 3, an adapter sleeve 2 connecting the stabilizer and the body, an obturator 4, and a pin 5, which serves as the tip of the product.
[0024] The dummy's belt section (stabilizer, body section, adapter sleeve, and obturator) is manufactured in exact accordance with the dummy's belt section of the BPS round in its external dimensions. Therefore, when assembling the round with the dummy, the propellant bundle arrangement will be identical to the propellant charge assembly specified in the design documentation for the BPS round.
[0025] The mockup's hull is designed to match the location of the BPS guidance support points: the upper air intake (pylons), the central guide (obturator) device, and the pylons in the lower part of the hull (guidance by a caliber stabilizer is possible). The guide surfaces of the mockup's guidance points have the same contact area with the barrel bore as the BPS guidance points.
[0026] The one-piece hull serves as a mass compensation device, which is necessary due to the absence of a heavy active part in the design. The parameters of the hull and other components of the mockup are selected so that the position of the mockup's center of mass relative to its targeting bases along the gun barrel matches the corresponding parameters of the BPS.
[0027] The invention is effective when the above requirements are met in the design and manufacture of a ballistic missile model
[0028] system test. When the propellant charge combustion products are initiated, the dummy begins moving down the barrel. Upon reaching the barrel exit, the dummy acquires the required initial velocity. The propellant gas pressure and initial velocity of the dummy will be equal to the ballistic characteristics of an APFSDS round.
[0029] Thus, the elimination of the expensive-to-manufacture active part of the warhead (special materials are used) and the complex design of the driving device (special alloys are used), and the use of simple materials (aluminum alloy, steel), significantly reduces the cost of ammunition production and testing. Reducing the number of component parts simplifies the assembly process, which also has a positive technical and financial impact.
[0030] The invention is explained by drawings, where Figures 1 and 2 show a general view of an armor-piercing sub-caliber projectile (Fig. 1) and a model of a ballistic system test projectile (Fig. 2).
[0031] In Fig.2 the following are indicated:
[0032] stabilizer - 1, adapter sleeve - 2, housing - 3, obturator - 4, pin - 5.
[0033] Analysis and comparison of technical solutions with close analogues of the developed object allow us to conclude that the adopted technical solutions are patentable and correspond to the world technical level.
