Fuel cell exhaust fluid droplet separator

Abstract

An exhaust fluid droplet separator (110), comprising: a first fluid passageway (112) in communication with main exhaust piping (102) and a fluid exhaust chimney (140); and a second fluid passageway (116) in fluid communication with the first fluid passageway (112) and an exhaust fluid reservoir (130) being designed to store fluids used for subsequent evaporative cooling of the fuel cell system (20), the exhaust fluid droplet separator (110) being designed to assume one a first mode (110a) or second mode (110b), wherein in the first mode (110a), an inner surface (113-1) of the first fluid passageway (112) blocks passage of fluids between the first and second fluid passageways (112, 116), and wherein in the second mode (110b), an opening (114) formed between first and second portions (112-1, 112-2) of the first fluid passageway (112) allows passage of fluids from the first fluid passageway (112) to the second fluid passageway (112).
