Abstract

A method of operating a tumbling mill, the method comprising:monitoring a toe position of a first portion of material inside the mill, said toe position determined responsive to signals measured from a vibration sensor;determining a measure of a discharge property corresponding to a second portion of material discharged from the mill;receiving an input corresponding to a desired discharge property of discharge material; anddetermining an operation parameter of the mill based onthe determined toe position, andthe received desired discharge property, anda predetermined correlation between toe position and discharge property.
