AI Technical Summary
Existing sealed connections in dishwashers and similar machines face issues with inconsistent sealing due to precise manufacturing requirements and reliance on compressed air or vacuum systems, leading to potential leakage and damage from water ingress.
A joint with a movable insert featuring a horizontal and vertical seal, utilizing the pressure of the medium to push the sealing element against the flange, eliminating the need for additional energy sources and ensuring effective sealing without threaded connections.
The joint provides reliable sealing by leveraging medium pressure, preventing leakage and protecting the sealing element from damage, without requiring additional energy or precise manufacturing of the sealing element.
Abstract
Description
CONNECTION FOR SEALED CONNECTION OF MEDIA CONNECTION IN DISHWASHER OR SIMILAR MACHINES WITH A SPECIAL INSERT The subject of the invention is a joint for a sealed connection of a medium connection in dishwashers and similar industrial dishwashers with a dedicated insert. The joint is represented by a flange and a coupling element into which a movable insert is inserted - a sealing element with two seals. The invention belongs to class F16K 17 / 10 of the international patent classification. The technical problem that the present invention successfully solves is a structural solution for a joint for a sealed connection of a medium connection in dishwashers or similar machines, which should enable effective sealing only by bringing the joint element closer to the flange of the supply pipe, without the use of other threaded or similar pipe connections. A joint with a coupling device for the sealed connection of two pipes is known, which is described in patent document DE 10317150. The flange of the insert, which is pushed into the chamber of the dishwasher, is positioned so that it is in line with the machine clutch. An elastic sealing element (O-ring) is inserted into the machine clutch. The sealing between the flange and the machine clutch is ensured by compressed air, which pushes and presses the elastic sealing element against the flange. The compressed air presses on the elastic sealing element and thus ensures sealing at all times. When sealing is no longer required, the air ducts Instead of compressed air, it supplies a vacuum that pulls the elastic sealing element back from the insert flange into the machine coupling. The disadvantage of the aforementioned solution is that the compressed air supply channel must be positioned in a coupling around the elastic sealing element in such a way that it presses it evenly against the flange, otherwise sealing can be problematic. The elastic sealing element must also be manufactured very precisely and with the same flexibility along its entire circumference, otherwise it does not provide a seal when pushing or when vacuuming. In the event of an O-ring leak, water will enter from behind the seal and consequently into the pneumatic control elements. The joint for the sealed connection of the medium connection in dishwashers and similar industrial dishwashers with a dedicated insert according to the invention is represented by a flange and a coupling element into which a movable insert is inserted - a sealing element with a horizontal and vertical seal, which, when the medium is pressed, enables effective sealing between the flange and the coupling element. The joint for a sealed connection according to the invention thus implemented enables effective sealing only by approaching and abutting the coupling element against the flange. The pressure of the medium in the passage through the coupling element provides a sufficiently large thrust force to move the insert - the sealing element and thus also effective sealing without the use of other threaded or similar pipe connections, the joint between the flange and the coupling element. The invention will be explained in more detail based on an exemplary embodiment and pictures, some of which show: Figure 1 shows a joint for a sealed connection according to the invention in cross-section in a non-sealed position; Figure 2 cross-section of the horizontal seal (5); Figure 3 cross-section of the vertical seal (4); Figure 4 shows a joint for a sealed connection according to the invention in cross-section in the sealing position and showing the flow of the fluid medium. The joint for the sealed connection of the medium connection in dishwashers and similar machines with a dedicated insert according to the invention is shown in Figure 1 in the unsealed position. The joint is represented by a coupling element 2 and a flange 1. A dedicated insert - a sealing element 3, in the form of a wider and thicker ring, with two grooves into which seals 4,5 are inserted, is movably inserted in the coupling element 2. The vertical seal 4, which is placed in the groove along the circumference of the sealing element 3, is intended for vertical sealing, while the front horizontal seal 5, placed in the front groove of the sealing element, is intended for horizontal sealing. The coupling element 2 is positioned with its attachment 2a in the axis with the flange 1. To ensure effective sealing, the coupling elements are The invention is designed in such a way that increasing the pressure of the medium ensures better sealing of the joint. Thus, the vertical seal 4, which is shown in cross-section in Figure 3, and is placed around the circumference of the sealing element 3, has tongues formed against the direction of pressure of the medium, which expand when the medium is pressed and enable effective sealing between the coupling element 2 and the sealing element 3. The pressure of the medium also ensures the thrust of the sealing element 3 against the flange 1. The horizontal seal 5, which is shown in cross-section in Figure 2, is designed so that it changes its shape when the medium flows through the coupling. The sealing tongue of the horizontal seal 5 expands in the direction of pressure of the medium and rests on the flange 1, thus ensuring sealing between the sealing element 3 and the flange 1, while the flow of the medium through the sealing element is unobstructed. The above-described position of the joint element 2 and the flange 1 and the sealing element in the sealed position of the joint according to the invention is shown in Figure 4. In the event that there is no flow of medium into the coupling element 2, sealing between the sealing element 3, the coupling element 2 and the flange 1 is not ensured. When there is no medium pressure in the joint according to the invention, the flange 1 automatically moves away from the extension 2a of the coupling element 2 due to pressure relief and thus slightly pushes the sealing element 3 into the interior of the coupling element 2. When the flange 1 is moved out of the grip with the machine, the sealing element 3 is also moved away from the axis of the coupling element 2. The sealing element 3 is on the front side, designed in such a way that when the sealing element 3 is pushed against the flange 1, the push consequently enables the sealing element 3 to move away from the joint axis, thus protecting the horizontal seal 5 from damage. The vertical seal 4 can be made of EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer), the horizontal seal 5 can be made of HPU (Hydrolysis Resistant Polyurethane), while the sealing element 3 can be made of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), The advantage of the present joint according to the invention is that no driving element or additional energy is required to move the sealing element 3 towards the flange 1, but the thrust force on the sealing element 3 is provided by the pressure of the medium (water or compressed air).
