Abstract
The orthotic ring serves as a structural element of a hand rehabilitation orthosis designed to restore or support the grasping function of the fingers in patients with limited or absent active grasping ability, for example after spinal cord injuries, stroke or tetraplegia. The orthotic ring consists of a body (1) with a beveled proximal edge (2) and distal edge (3) at an angle of 20°, which eliminates the limitation of the range of motion (ROM) in the interphalangeal joints when the finger is fully flexed. Channels (6, 7) are formed on the dorsal side (4) of the body and the palmar side (5) of the body, through which control silos or cables of the rehabilitation orthosis are guided, ensuring controlled flexion and extension of the user's fingers. The rings can be made in different diameters and sizes according to the individual links of the finger. The product is intended for production using additive manufacturing technology from a biocompatible polymer or composite material, which enables precise adjustment of the shape and size to the individual needs of the user.
