Combined hydraulic chassis damping system for the Y-family of freight railway vehicles

Abstract

The system consists of directional hydraulic dampers (2) arranged between the bogie frame (3) and the wagon frame (4) and of hydraulic dampers (1) oriented in a vertical or oblique direction arranged between the bearing housings (5) of the wheelsets (6) and the bogie frame (3). It represents an additional assembly accessory for the standard structural arrangement of the Y family bogie without the need for fundamental changes to its basic concept, frame (3), wheelsets (6) or suspension system (7). The combined action of both groups of dampers (1, 2) limits vertical, transverse and rotational vibrations of the bogie, reduces dynamic forces in the wheel-rail contact, limits wheel relief and increases the vehicle's resistance to derailment at higher operating speeds. The solution is intended for the production of new vehicles and for the modernization of existing freight wagons equipped with Y family bogies.
