AI Technical Summary
Existing vehicle door structures are vulnerable to water and intruder entry through the gap between the door inner and outer panels, particularly around the window opening, despite the use of a cover member and bracket for sealing.
A cover member with a slit portion and protrusions is designed to be attached between the door inner panel and door trim, guiding water away from the vehicle interior by inclining surfaces to direct water flow into the door interior space, where it can be collected and prevented from entering the passenger compartment.
The solution effectively prevents water from entering the vehicle interior by using the cover member's slit and protrusions to channel water away from the passenger compartment, enhancing sealing efficiency and reducing the number of parts required for attachment compared to traditional methods.
Abstract
Description
Cover member and cover member mounting structure
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a cover member and a cover member mounting structure.
[0002] Patent Document 1 describes a vehicle door structure. A metal door panel constituting a vehicle door has a window opening provided at an upper portion thereof. The door panel is composed of a door inner panel and a door outer panel, and the two are joined by a door sash at the upper edge portion and both side edge portions of the window opening. Inside the door sash, a glass run for guiding the raising and lowering of a door glass is mounted. At a position below one side edge portion of the window opening, notch portions are formed in the door outer panel and the door sash so as to notch the side edge portion. By using this notch portion, a door glass with both side edge portions parallel can be fitted inside the door sash and the glass run. After assembling the door glass to the door, a bracket member for closing the notch portion is attached to the outer surface side of the door outer panel.
[0003] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2008-296820
[0004] By the way, a notch portion (a notch-shaped opening) for improving the attachment property of the door glass to the door panel may be provided around the window opening of the door inner panel. In this case, even if the opening is closed with a bracket member (cover member) as in the vehicle door structure described in Patent Document 1 above, there is a possibility that water that has entered the door panel (the space between the door inner panel and the door outer panel) may enter the passenger compartment side from between the opening and the cover member.
[0005] The present disclosure provides a cover member and a cover member mounting structure capable of suppressing the intrusion of water from the opening of the door inner panel to the passenger compartment side. [[ID=I6]]
[0006] A first aspect of the present invention is a cover member that is plate-shaped and attached to a door panel that stands upright along a predetermined direction, with the interior space of the door partitioned by an interior door panel on the passenger compartment side and an exterior door panel on the outside side, and which closes an opening provided in the interior door panel from the passenger compartment side, comprising a slit portion, a passenger compartment side region and an interior door region. The slit portion extends upward from the lower edge of the cover member and into which the lower opening edge of the opening of the interior door panel can be inserted. The passenger compartment side region is located on one side of the lower end of the cover member relative to the slit portion in the predetermined direction and is positioned closer to the passenger compartment than the interior door panel. The interior door region is located on the other side of the lower end of the cover member relative to the slit portion in the predetermined direction and is positioned within the interior door space.
[0007] In the above configuration, the area of the lower end of the cover member located on the other side of the slit in the predetermined direction (the door interior area) is positioned within the door interior space. Therefore, water flowing down the cover member within the door interior space, specifically the area of the cover member on the other side of the predetermined direction, flows downward from the lower end of the cover member into the door interior space and does not enter the passenger compartment. This prevents water from entering the passenger compartment through the opening of the door inner panel.
[0008] Furthermore, since the lower opening edge of the door inner panel can be inserted into the slit portion extending upward from the lower edge of the cover member, when closing the opening of the door inner panel with the cover member, the lower opening edge of the door inner panel can be inserted into the slit portion of the cover member, making it easy to position the cover member downward relative to the opening of the door inner panel.
[0009] A second aspect of the present invention is a cover member according to the first aspect, further comprising a protruding portion. The protruding portion is positioned above the slit portion and protrudes toward the door interior space. The other end of the protruding portion in the predetermined direction is positioned on the other side of the slit portion. At least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the protruding portion is inclined toward downward from the one side toward the other side toward the predetermined direction.
[0010] In the above configuration, the other end of the protruding portion that protrudes towards the door interior space above the slit portion is positioned on the other side of the slit portion, and at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the protruding portion is inclined downward from one side to the other in the predetermined direction. That is, at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the protruding portion is inclined from above toward the door interior area of the cover member. Therefore, when the upper surface of the protruding portion is inclined toward the door interior area of the cover member, water flowing down inside the door panel can be guided along the upper surface of the protruding portion from one side toward the door interior area of the cover member, and when the lower surface of the protruding portion is inclined toward the door interior area of the cover member, water flowing down along the side of the protruding portion on one side inside the door panel can reach the lower surface and then be guided along the lower surface of the protruding portion toward the door interior area of the cover member. In this way, water flowing down inside the door panel can be guided from one side of the cover member to the other side of the door interior area, thus effectively preventing water flowing down inside the door panel from entering the passenger compartment through the opening of the door inner panel.
[0011] A third aspect of the present invention is a cover member mounting structure for attaching a cover member according to the first or second aspect to a door panel, wherein the door panel has a door trim. The door trim is positioned on the passenger compartment side of the door inner panel and fixed to the door inner panel. The cover member is attached to the door panel by being sandwiched between the door inner panel and the door trim.
[0012] In the above configuration, the cover member is sandwiched between the door inner panel and the door trim, so the cover member can function as a sealing member to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment.
[0013] Furthermore, the cover member is attached to the door panel by being sandwiched between the door inner panel and the door trim. This reduces the number of parts compared to attaching the cover member to the periphery of the opening in the door inner panel with other components (e.g., butyl tape or bolts).
[0014] A fourth aspect of the present invention is a cover member mounting structure for attaching a cover member according to the first or second aspect to a door panel, wherein the door panel has a window opening, a glass run channel arranged in the door interior space and fixed to the door panel, and a glass run supported by the glass run channel. The opening of the door interior panel is provided in the shape of a notch from the window opening to one side or the other side in the predetermined direction. The glass run channel has an opening region that extends vertically on the window opening side within the opening. The glass run has a passenger compartment side lip portion that covers the opening region of the glass run channel from the passenger compartment side. The cover member is attached to the door panel by being sandwiched between the opening region of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment side lip portion of the glass run.
[0015] In the above configuration, the cover member is sandwiched between the opening region of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment-side lip portion of the glass run, so the cover member can function as a sealing member to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment.
[0016] Furthermore, the cover member is attached to the door panel by being sandwiched between the opening region of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment-side lip portion of the glass run. Therefore, the thickness of the attachment portion in the direction intersecting the door inner panel can be reduced compared to, for example, attaching the cover member to the glass run channel with butyl tape or the like. In addition, the number of parts can be reduced compared to attaching the cover member to the periphery of the opening of the door inner panel with other components (e.g., butyl tape or bolts).
[0017] According to this disclosure, it is possible to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment through the opening in the door inner panel.

Figure 1B is a side view of a vehicle side door to which the cover member mounting structure according to one embodiment of the present invention is applied, showing the view from the inside in the vehicle width direction. Figure 2 is a side view of the side door with the door trim of Figure 1B removed. Figure 3A is an enlarged view of the opening of the door inner panel, showing the cover member and glass run removed. Figure 3B is an enlarged view of the opening of the door inner panel, showing the cover member and glass run installed. Figure 4 is a side view of the cover member. Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line V-V in Figure 1B. Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line VI-VI in Figure 1B.
[0019] One embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. In each figure, FR indicates the front of the vehicle, UP indicates the top, and IN indicates the inside in the width direction of the vehicle. In the following description, the front-rear direction refers to the front-rear direction of the vehicle, and the left-right direction refers to the left-right direction when the vehicle is facing forward.
[0020] As shown in Figures 1A, 1B, and 2, the cover member mounting structure according to this embodiment is applied to a side door (door panel) 3 that can be opened and closed to the outside of the passenger compartment 2 (see Figure 5) of the vehicle 1. When the side door 3 is closed, with the side of the passenger compartment 2 closed, it stands upright along the front-rear direction (a predetermined direction) intersecting the vehicle width direction. In the following description, the front-rear direction and left-right direction of the side door 3 refer to the direction of the side door 3 when it is closed.
[0021] The side door 3 is formed in a closed cross-section by a door inner panel 4 on the passenger compartment 2 side (in this embodiment, the inner side in the vehicle width direction) that intersects with the vehicle width direction, and a door outer panel 5 on the outer side (in this embodiment, the outer side in the vehicle width direction) that intersects with the vehicle width direction. With the outer peripheral edges of the door inner panel 4 and the outer peripheral edges of the door outer panel 5 fixed to each other, a door interior space 9 (see Figure 5) is partitioned between the door inner panel 4 and the door outer panel 5. A door trim 6, which is a decorative member, is attached to the inner side (passenger compartment 2 side) of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction. A window opening 7 is formed at the top of the side door 3. The window opening 7 can be opened and closed by a window glass 8 that is supported so as to be able to move up and down by a glass lifting mechanism (not shown) in the door interior space 9. A glass run 12 is provided at the periphery of the window opening 7 to guide the rising and falling window glass 8, and a glass run channel 13 (see Figure 3A) is provided in the door interior space 9 at the periphery of the window opening 7 to support the glass run 12.
[0022] As shown in Figure 3A, a notch (opening) 14 is formed in the door inner panel 4 behind the window opening 7, cut out from the rear edge 16 of the window opening 7. This notch 14 is provided to improve workability when inserting the window glass 8 from the lower edge 15 side of the window opening 7 into the lower door interior space 9 (see Figure 5). The notch 14 has a lower opening edge (lower opening edge) 14a that extends rearward along the lower edge 15 of the window opening 7, an upper opening edge 14b that extends rearward from the rear edge 16 of the window opening 7 above the lower opening edge 14a, and a rear opening edge 14c that extends vertically between the rear end of the lower opening edge 14a and the rear end of the upper opening edge 14b. On the window opening 7 side (front side in this embodiment) within the notch 14, a portion of the vertical region 20 (hereinafter referred to as "inner opening region 20") of the glass run channel 13 with a U-shaped cross-section (see Figure 5) that opens forward extends vertically. A first bracket 17 is fixed to the area above the upper edge 14b of the opening of the notch 14 in the door inner panel 4, supporting the glass run channel 13 while pressing it down from the inside in the vehicle width direction. A second bracket 18 for fixing the door trim 6 is positioned approximately in the center of the notch 14 in the vertical direction. The second bracket 18 is provided with a clip mounting portion 28 to which a clip (not shown) on the door trim 6 side can be attached. In the state before the cover member 10, which will be described later, is attached to the door inner panel 4 to close the notch 14 (the state shown in Figure 3A), the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 is open to the inside in the vehicle width direction. As shown in Figures 2 and 3B, the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 is closed from the inside in the vehicle width direction by the cover member 10.
[0023] As shown in Figures 3B and 4, the cover member 10 is formed in a substantially plate shape from a flexible porous material (for example, a discontinuous cellular sponge material). As will be described later, the cover member 10 is positioned at a predetermined mounting location on the side door 3 before the door trim 6 is attached, and is supported (clamped) by the door trim 6 and the glass run 12, etc., and attached to the side door 3. In the cover-attached state with the cover member 10 attached to the side door 3, the cover member 10 closes the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4, preventing water and dust from entering from the door interior space 9 to the passenger compartment 2, and also suppressing the transmission of noise from the door interior space 9 to the passenger compartment 2.
[0024] As shown in Figures 3A, 3B, and 4, the cover member 10 has a lower cover end 19a, an upper cover end 19b, a rear cover end 19c, and a front cover end 19d. The upper cover end 19b extends upward from the upper edge 14b of the opening of the notch 14 when the cover is installed and contacts the inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction. The rear cover end 19c extends backward from the rear edge 14c of the opening of the notch 14 when the cover is installed and contacts the inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction. The front cover end 19d extends forward from the rear surface 32 (see Figure 5) of the glass run channel 13 when the cover is installed and contacts the inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13 in the vehicle width direction. The lower cover end 19a extends downward from the lower edge 14a of the opening of the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 when the cover is installed. A slit portion 24 is formed at the lower end 19a of the cover, extending upward from the lower edge 23 of the cover member 10. That is, the lower end 19a of the cover has a rear slit region (passenger compartment side region) 25 behind the slit portion 24 (one side) and a front slit region (door interior region) 26 in front of the slit portion 24 (the other side). In this embodiment, the length L1 in the front-rear direction of the front slit region 26 is set to be longer than the length L2 in the front-rear direction of the rear slit region 25 (L1 > L2). When attaching the cover member 10 to the door inner panel 4, the lower opening edge 14a of the door inner panel 4 is inserted from below into the slit portion 24 of the lower end 19a of the cover, and brought into contact with the upper end 24a of the slit portion 24. With the lower edge 14a of the door inner panel 4 inserted into the slit 24 of the lower end 19a of the cover, the rear slit region 25 of the lower end 19a of the cover is located on the inside (passenger compartment 2 side) in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4, and the front slit region 26 of the lower end 19a of the cover is located in the door interior space 9 on the outside in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4.
[0025] As shown in Figures 4 to 6, in the area 27 of the cover member 10 enclosed by the lower end 19a, upper end 19b, rear end 19c, and front end 19d of the cover member, a clip insertion hole 29, an upper projection (projection) 30 positioned above the clip insertion hole 29 and projecting outward in the vehicle width direction, and a lower projection (projection) 31 positioned below the clip insertion hole 29 and projecting outward in the vehicle width direction are formed. The clip insertion hole 29 is positioned in a location corresponding to the clip mounting portion 28 of the second bracket 18 when the cover is installed, allowing the insertion of a clip (not shown) on the door trim 6 side. The upper projection 30 has a rectangular box-shaped portion 30a that opens inward in the vehicle width direction, and a linear portion 30b that extends upward from the box-shaped portion 30a. The front surface (the other end) 33 of the box-shaped portion 30a is positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening area 20 of the glass run channel 13 when the cover is attached, facing the rear surface 32, and extends vertically along the extending direction of the glass run channel 13. The rear surface 47 of the box-shaped portion 30a is positioned near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 when the cover is attached, and extends vertically along the extending direction of the rear edge 14c. The linear portion 30b has a first linear portion 34 extending upward from the rear upper end of the box-shaped portion 30a, and a second linear portion 35 extending forward from the upper end of the first linear portion 34. The first linear portion 34 extends vertically near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4, and the upper end of the first linear portion 34 is positioned near the lower part of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the notch 14. The second linear portion 35 is positioned near the lower part of the upper opening edge 14b of the notch 14 and extends front to back along the extending direction of the upper opening edge 14b. The lower projection 31 is formed in a box shape with a roughly diamond cross-section that opens inward in the vehicle width direction. The front surface (the other end) 36 of the lower projection 31 is positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the inner opening region 20 of the glass run channel 13 when the cover is attached, facing the rear surface 32, and extends vertically along the extending direction of the glass run channel 13. The rear surface 37 of the lower projection 31 is positioned near the front of the rear opening edge 14c of the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 when the cover is attached, and extends vertically along the extending direction of the rear opening edge 14c. The front surface 33 of the box-shaped portion 30a of the upper projection 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower projection 31 are positioned in front of the slit portion 24.The upper surface 38 and lower surface 39 of the lower projection 31 extend in a straight line from the rear upward to the front downward and are inclined with respect to the horizontal direction in the front-rear direction.
[0026] The glass run 12 has a glass entry recess 40 into which the rear end of the window glass 8 enters, an external lip portion 41 extending from the front end of the glass entry recess 40 on the outside in the vehicle width direction to the rear on the outside in the vehicle width direction and covering the front edge of the door outer panel 5 from the outside in the vehicle width direction, and a passenger compartment lip portion 42 extending from the front end of the glass entry recess 40 on the inside in the vehicle width direction to the rear on the inside in the vehicle width direction and covering the inner surface 22 on the front end side of the glass run channel 13 from the inside in the vehicle width direction. A pair of left and right sealing lip portions 43 and 44 are provided inside the glass entry recess 40 that contact the window glass 8 from both sides in the vehicle width direction.
[0027] In the side door 3 before the cover member 10 and door trim 6 are attached, the door inner panel 4 and the door outer panel 5 are joined to each other, the window glass 8 is placed in the door interior space 9, a glass run channel 13 and a glass run 12 are provided around the periphery of the window opening 7, and the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 opens inward in the vehicle width direction.
[0028] When attaching the cover member 10 to the side door 3, first, the lower edge 14a of the opening of the door inner panel 4 is inserted from below into the slit portion 24 of the cover member 10 so that the rear slit region 25 of the cover member 10 is positioned on the inside of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, and the front slit region 26 is positioned in the door inner space 9 on the outside of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, and the lower edge 14a of the opening is brought into contact with the upper end 24a of the slit portion 24. Next, the upper protrusion 30 and lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 are inserted from the inside in the vehicle width direction between the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 and the rear surface 32 of the opening region 20 of the glass run channel 13. This state represents the cover member 10 positioned at the predetermined mounting location. In this state, the front surface 33 of the box-shaped portion 30a of the upper projection 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower projection 31 are positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening interior region 20 of the glass run channel 13, the rear surface 47 of the box-shaped portion 30a and the rear surface 37 of the lower projection 31 are positioned near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the notch 14, the first linear portion 34 of the upper projection 30 is positioned near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the notch 14, and the second linear portion 35 of the upper projection 30 is positioned near the lower of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the notch 14. Next, substantially the entire vertical area of the front end portion 19d of the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the inner surface 22 in the vehicle width direction of the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. At this point, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between at least the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. Finally, the clip (not shown) on the door trim 6 side is inserted into the clip insertion hole 29 of the cover member 10 from the inside in the vehicle width direction and locked into the clip mounting portion 28 of the second bracket 18. With the door trim 6 attached to the side door 3, at least a portion of the rear end portion 19c of the cover member 10 (for example, the area whose cross-section is shown in Figure 5) is pressed toward the door inner panel 4 side (outside in the vehicle width direction) by the cover pressing portion 6a provided on the door trim 6, and is sandwiched between the inner surface 4a in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4 and the cover pressing portion 6a of the door trim 6.In other words, in this embodiment, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, and also sandwiched between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. The cover pressing portion 6a of the door trim 6 faces the inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction on the inner side in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4.
[0029] In the cover member 10 configured as described above, the slit-front region 26 of the cover member 10 is positioned in the door interior space 9 on the outside in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4. Therefore, when water enters the door interior space 9, the water that flows down the surface 45 of the cover member 10 in the door interior space 9 and flows forward of the slit portion 24 reaches the slit-front region 26 and flows downward from the lower edge 23 of the slit-front region 26 into the door interior space 9. As a result, water does not enter the passenger compartment 2, and water intrusion into the passenger compartment 2 from the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 can be suppressed.
[0030] Furthermore, the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 is positioned in front of the slit 24, and the upper surface 38 of the lower protrusion 31 is inclined from rear-upward to front-downward. As a result, water that flows down the door interior space 9 and reaches the upper surface 38 of the lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 can be guided along the upper surface 38 of the lower protrusion 31 towards the front slit front region 26, thereby effectively suppressing water from entering the passenger compartment 2 from the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4.
[0031] Furthermore, the front surface 36 of the lower projection 31 is positioned in front of the slit 24, and the lower surface 39 of the lower projection 31 is inclined from rear-upward to front-downward. As a result, water that flows down along the rear surface 37 of the lower projection 31 of the cover member 10 in the door interior space 9 and reaches the lower surface 39 of the cover member 10 can be guided along the lower surface 39 of the lower projection 31 towards the front slit front region 26, thereby effectively suppressing the intrusion of water from the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 into the passenger compartment 2.
[0032] Furthermore, since the front end portion 19d of the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the inner surface 22 in the vehicle width direction of the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, the cover member 10 can function as a sealing member to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment 2.
[0033] Furthermore, since a portion of the rear end portion 19c of the cover member 10 (for example, the area whose cross-section is shown in Figure 5) is sandwiched between the door trim 6 and the door inner panel 4, the portion of the rear end portion 19c of the cover member 10 that is sandwiched between the door trim 6 and the door inner panel 4 can function as a sealing member to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment 2.
[0034] Furthermore, since the cover member 10 is made of a flexible, porous material, it can effectively function as a sealing member to prevent water from entering the vehicle compartment 2.
[0035] Therefore, according to this embodiment, it is possible to prevent water from entering the passenger compartment 2 through the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4.
[0036] Furthermore, when attaching the cover member 10 to the side door 3, the lower opening edge 14a of the door inner panel 4 is inserted into the slit portion 24 of the cover member 10 from below, and the lower opening edge 14a is brought into contact with the upper end 24a of the slit portion 24, making it easy to position the cover member 10 downwards with respect to the notch portion 14 of the door inner panel 4.
[0037] Furthermore, with the cover member 10 positioned at the predetermined mounting position, the box-shaped portion 30a of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surfaces 33 and 36 of the lower protrusion 31 are positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening region 20 of the glass run channel 13, making it easy to position the cover member 10 forward relative to the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4.
[0038] Furthermore, since the rear surface 47 of the upper projection 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower projection 31 are positioned near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the notch 14, the rearward positioning of the cover member 10 relative to the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 can be easily performed.
[0039] Furthermore, since the second linear portion 35 of the upper protrusion 30 is positioned near the lower part of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the notch 14, the cover member 10 can be easily positioned upward relative to the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4.
[0040] Furthermore, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. This reduces the number of parts compared to the case where the cover member 10 is attached to the periphery of the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 with other materials (for example, butyl tape or bolts).
[0041] Furthermore, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. Since the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12 is relatively thinner in the vehicle width direction compared to butyl tape, for example, the thickness of the mounting portion of the front end 19d of the cover member 10 to the glass run channel 13 can be reduced in the vehicle width direction compared to when the cover member 10 is attached to the glass run channel 13 with butyl tape or the like. In addition, the number of parts can be reduced compared to when the cover member 10 is attached to the glass run channel 13 with other members (for example, butyl tape or bolts).
[0042] In this embodiment, a portion of the vertical area of the rear end portion 19c of the cover member 10 (for example, the area shown in the cross-section in Figure 5) is sandwiched between the inner surface 4a in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. However, substantially the entire vertical area of the rear end portion 19c of the cover may be sandwiched between the inner surface 4a in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6.
[0043] Furthermore, in this embodiment, substantially the entire area of the front end portion 19d of the cover member 10 in the vertical direction is sandwiched between the inner surface 22 in the vehicle width direction of the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. However, a portion of the area of the front end portion 19d of the cover in the vertical direction may be sandwiched between the inner surface 22 in the vehicle width direction of the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12.
[0044] Also, in this embodiment, the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle interior side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, and also sandwiched between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6, and thus attached to the side door 3. However, it is not limited thereto. For example, the cover member 10 may be attached to the side door 3 by sandwiching it between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6 without sandwiching it between the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle interior side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, or by sandwiching it between the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle interior side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12 without sandwiching it between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. Alternatively, the cover member 10 may be attached to the side door 3 by another structure different from the above structure (for example, screwing, clipping, or adhesion, etc.).
[0045] Also, in this embodiment, when attaching the cover member 10 to the side door 3, first, the lower edge 14a of the opening of the door inner panel 4 is inserted into the slit portion 24 of the cover member 10 from below, and then the upper protruding portion 30 and the lower protruding portion 31 of the cover member 10 are inserted into the door inner space 9 from the notch portion 14 of the door inner panel 4. However, it is not limited thereto. For example, first, the upper protruding portion 30 and the lower protruding portion 31 of the cover member 10 may be inserted into the door inner space 9 from the notch portion 14 of the door inner panel 4, and then the lower edge 14a of the opening of the door inner panel 4 may be inserted into the slit portion 24 of the cover member 10 from below.
[0046] Also, in this embodiment, both the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 of the lower protruding portion 31 of the cover member 10 are inclined from the rear upper side to the front lower side. However, it is not limited thereto, and either one of the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 may be inclined from the rear upper side to the front lower side, or both the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 may not be inclined in the front-rear direction.
[0047] Also, in the present embodiment, the lower protruding portion 31 of the cover member 10 is formed in a box shape with a substantially rhombic cross section that is open inward in the vehicle width direction. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, it may be a linear rib (protruding portion) that protrudes outward in the vehicle width direction and linearly extends in a state inclined from the rear upper side to the front lower side.
[0048] Also, in the present embodiment, the upper protruding portion 30 of the cover member 10 is provided with the box-shaped portion 30a and the linear portion 30b. However, only one of them may be provided. Further, at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the box-shaped portion 30a of the upper protruding portion 30 may be inclined from the rear upper side to the front lower side.
[0049] Also, in the present embodiment, the rear region (vehicle interior side region) 25 of the slit of the cover member 10 is arranged inside the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4, and the front region (door inner region) 26 of the slit is arranged in the door inner space 9 outside the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4. However, the rear region 25 of the slit may be arranged in the door inner space 9 outside the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4, and the front region 26 of the slit may be arranged inside the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 4. In this case, at least one of the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 of the lower protruding portion 31 of the cover member 10 may be inclined from the front upper side to the rear lower side.
[0050] Also, in the present embodiment, the cover member 10 is provided with the clip insertion hole 29. However, the clip insertion hole 29 may not be provided.
[0051] Also, in the present embodiment, the cover member 10 is provided with the upper protruding portion 30 and the lower protruding portion 31. However, the upper protruding portion 30 and the lower protruding portion 31 may not be provided.
[0052] Also, in the present embodiment, the cover member 10 is formed of a porous material having flexibility. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and it may be formed of other materials (for example, resin panels, etc.).
[0053] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the notch (opening) 14 behind the window opening 7 of the door inner panel 4 is covered with the cover member 10, but this is not the only possible solution. For example, if a notch (opening) is provided in front of the window opening 7, the notch may be covered with the cover member 10, or if an opening is provided at a position spaced apart from the window opening 7 of the door inner panel 4, the opening may be covered with the cover member 10. In these cases, the cover member 10 that covers the opening may have at least a slit 24 at its lower end 19a, with either the rear slit region 25 or the front slit region 26 positioned on the passenger compartment 2 side and the other on the door interior space 9 side.
[0054] Although the present invention has been described above based on the above embodiments, the present invention is not limited to the contents of the above embodiments, and can naturally be modified as appropriate without departing from the present invention. In other words, all other embodiments, examples, and operational techniques made by those skilled in the art based on these embodiments are of course included in the scope of the present invention.
[0055] For example, in the above embodiment, the cover member 10 and cover member mounting structure according to this disclosure were applied to the side door (door panel) 3 of the vehicle 1, but they may also be applied to a back door (door panel) that extends along the vehicle width direction (a predetermined direction) and allows the passenger compartment 2 of the vehicle 1 to be opened to the rear.
[0056] This application is based on a Japanese patent application (Patent Application No. 2019-045869) filed on March 13, 2019, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
[0057] The cover member and cover member mounting structure relating to this disclosure can be widely applied to the door panels of vehicles.
