AI Technical Summary
The existing attachment process for cover members on vehicle door panels is complicated due to the potential shifting of the cover member from its predetermined position, which can lead to water and dust entering the passenger compartment, and requires improved workability during attachment.
A cover member with a protrusion that protrudes into the door interior space and contacts the glass run channel or notch edge, preventing movement and ensuring proper positioning, and is optionally inclined to guide water away from the vehicle interior, with the cover member being sandwiched between the glass run channel and a lip portion for secure attachment.
The solution enhances the workability of attaching the cover member by preventing movement and ensuring correct positioning, while also acting as a sealing mechanism to prevent water and dust from entering the passenger compartment, reducing the need for additional fastening components.
Abstract
Description
Cover member and cover member mounting structure
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a cover member and a cover member mounting structure.
[0002] Patent Document 1 describes a vehicle door structure. A metal door panel constituting a vehicle door has a window opening at its upper portion. The door panel is composed of a door inner panel and a door outer panel. A notch is formed in the door outer panel and the door sash below one side edge of the window opening, cutting out that side edge. This notch allows a door glass with parallel side edges to be fitted inside the door sash and glass run. After the door glass is assembled to the door, a bracket member is attached to the outer surface of the door outer panel to close the notch.
[0003] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2008-296820
[0004] In some cases, a cutout is provided around the window opening of a door inner panel to improve the ease of attachment of the door glass to the door panel. In this case, water or dust inside the door panel (the space between the door inner panel and the door outer panel) may enter the vehicle interior through the opening of the cutout in the door inner panel (hereinafter simply referred to as the "door inner panel opening"), so a cover member may be used to cover the opening. However, if the cover member is misaligned from its intended position to cover the opening when attached to the door panel, the installation process may become complicated.
[0005] The present disclosure provides a cover member and a cover member mounting structure that can improve the workability when mounting the cover member on a door panel.
[0006] A first aspect of the present invention provides a cover member attached to a predetermined mounting position of a vehicle door panel to close the opening from the passenger compartment side, the cover member including a door inner panel on the passenger compartment side and an outer door panel on the exterior side, the door inner panel having a cutout cut out to one side from the window opening in a predetermined direction, a glass run channel for supporting a glass run on the other side of the cutout in the predetermined direction, and a cover member having a protrusion that protrudes from the opening toward the interior door space between the door inner panel and the door outer panel in a cover-attached state in which the cover member is attached to the door panel in the mounting position. The other end of the protrusion faces or abuts against the one side in the predetermined direction of the surface of the glass run channel opposite the window opening in the cover-attached state.
[0007] In the above configuration, the protruding portion of the cover member protrudes from the opening toward the interior door space, and the other end of the protruding portion in the predetermined direction faces or abuts against the one side in the predetermined direction of the surface of the glass run channel opposite the window opening when the cover is attached. Therefore, when attaching the cover member to the attachment position on the door panel, movement of the cover member to the other side in the predetermined direction (toward the glass run channel) can be restricted by the abutment of the other end of the protruding portion with the glass run channel. Therefore, when attaching the cover member to the attachment position on the door panel, the positioning of the cover member can be easily performed, thereby improving the workability of the cover member attachment work.
[0008] A second aspect of the present invention provides a cover member attached to a vehicle door panel at a predetermined mounting position to close the opening from the passenger compartment side, the cover member including a door inner panel on the passenger compartment side and an outer door panel on the exterior side, the door inner panel having a cutout cut out to one side from the window opening in a predetermined direction, a glass run channel for supporting a glass run on the other side of the cutout in the predetermined direction, and a cover member having a protrusion that protrudes from the opening toward the interior door space between the door inner panel and the door outer panel when the cover member is attached to the door panel at the mounting position. An end of the one side of the protrusion faces or abuts against the other side in the predetermined direction of the edge of the cutout in the door inner panel.
[0009] In the above configuration, the protruding portion of the cover member protrudes from the opening into the door interior space, and one end of the protruding portion in the predetermined direction faces or abuts against the other side in the predetermined direction of the edge of the notch in the door inner panel that faces the glass run channel. Therefore, when attaching the cover member to the attachment position on the door panel, movement of the cover member to the one side in the predetermined direction (the side opposite the glass run channel) can be restricted by the abutment between the one end of the protruding portion and the door inner panel. Therefore, when attaching the cover member to the attachment position on the door panel, the positioning of the cover member can be easily performed, thereby improving the workability of the cover member attachment work.
[0010] A third aspect of the present invention is a cover member according to the first or second aspect, which is attached to a door panel in which a glass run channel extends in the vertical direction, wherein the predetermined direction is the longitudinal direction or the vehicle width direction, and at least one of the upper surface or the lower surface of the protrusion is inclined downward from the one side to the other side, or from the other side to the one side.
[0011] In the above configuration, at least one of the upper surface and the lower surface of the protrusion is inclined downward from one side to the other side in the predetermined direction, or from the other side to the one side. Therefore, when the upper surface of the protrusion is inclined, if water enters the door interior space, the water that flows downward through the door interior space and reaches the upper surface of the protrusion can be guided to the other side or one side in the predetermined direction by the upper surface of the protrusion. Furthermore, when the lower surface of the protrusion is inclined, if water enters the door interior space, the water that flows downward along the one side surface or the other side of the protrusion in the predetermined direction and reaches the lower surface of the protrusion can be guided along the lower surface of the protrusion to the other side or one side in the predetermined direction. In other words, the protrusion can guide water flowing down through the door interior space in a desired direction (the other side or one side in the predetermined direction). As a result, for example, water can be prevented from entering the vehicle interior by inclining at least one of the upper surface or the lower surface of the protrusion toward a region of the door interior space below the protrusion where water is less likely to enter the vehicle interior.
[0012] A fourth aspect of the present invention is a cover member mounting structure for mounting the cover member of any one of the first to third aspects to a door panel, wherein the glass run has a passenger compartment-side lip portion that covers a passenger compartment-side surface of the glass run channel from the passenger compartment side, and an end portion of the cover member on the other side of the protruding portion is sandwiched between the passenger compartment-side surface of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment-side lip portion of the glass run.
[0013] In the above configuration, since the other end of the cover member is sandwiched between the passenger compartment side surface of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment side lip portion of the glass run, for example, when attaching the cover member to the door panel by sandwiching it between the glass run channel and the passenger compartment side lip portion of the glass run, the number of parts can be reduced, unlike when the cover member is fixed to the door panel with bolts, tape, etc. Alternatively, even when the cover member is fixed to the door panel with bolts, tape, etc., since the other end of the cover member is sandwiched between the passenger compartment side surface of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment side lip portion of the glass run, it is possible to prevent the cover member from shifting in position when fixing the cover member to the door panel, and the workability of the installation work of the cover member can be improved.
[0014] Furthermore, since the cover member is sandwiched between the passenger compartment side surface of the glass run channel and the passenger compartment side lip portion of the glass run, the cover member can function as a sealing member that prevents water from entering the passenger compartment.
[0015] According to the present disclosure, it is possible to improve the workability when attaching a cover member to a door panel.

FIG. 3B is an enlarged view of the opening of the door inner panel of FIG. 2, showing the cover member and glass run attached. FIG. 4 is a side view of the cover member. FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along the V-V arrow in FIG. 1B. FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along the VI-VI arrow in FIG. 1B.
[0017] An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. In each drawing, FR indicates the front of the vehicle, UP indicates the upper side, and IN indicates the inner side in the vehicle width direction. In the following description, the front-rear direction means the front-rear direction of the vehicle, and the left-right direction means the left-right direction when facing the front of the vehicle.
[0018] 1A, 1B, and 2, the cover member mounting structure according to this embodiment is applied to a side door (door panel) 3 that can open and close a passenger compartment 2 (see FIG. 5) of a vehicle 1 to the outside. When the side door 3 is closed on one side of the passenger compartment 2, the side door 3 stands upright in a longitudinal direction (a predetermined direction) that intersects with the vehicle width direction. In the following description, the longitudinal and lateral directions of the side door 3 refer to the directions of the side door 3 in a closed state.
[0019] The side door 3 has a closed cross section formed by a door inner panel 4 on the passenger compartment 2 side (inner side in the vehicle width direction in this embodiment) intersecting the vehicle width direction and a door outer panel 5 on the outer side (outer side in the vehicle width direction in this embodiment) intersecting the vehicle width direction. With the outer peripheral edges of the door inner panel 4 and the door outer panel 5 fixed to each other, a door interior space 9 (see FIG. 5 ) is defined between the door inner panel 4 and the door outer panel 5. A door trim 6, which is a decorative member, is attached to the inner side of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction (compartment 2 side). A window opening 7 is formed in the upper part of the side door 3. The window opening 7 can be opened and closed by a window glass 8 that is supported in a vertically movable manner by a glass lifting mechanism (not shown) within the door interior space 9. A glass run 12 that guides the window glass 8 as it rises and falls is provided around the periphery of the window opening 7, and a glass run channel 13 (see Figure 3A) that supports the glass run 12 is provided within the door space 9 around the periphery of the window opening 7.
[0020] As shown in FIG. 3A , a notch 14 is formed in the door inner panel 4 rearward of the window opening 7, cutting rearward (to one side) from the rear edge 16 of the window opening 7. This notch 14 is provided to improve the ease of inserting the window glass 8 from the lower edge 15 of the window opening 7 into the interior door space 9 (see FIG. 5 ). The notch 14 has a lower opening edge 14a extending rearward along the lower edge 15 of the window opening 7, an upper opening edge 14b extending rearward from the rear edge 16 of the window opening 7 above the lower opening edge 14a, and an opening rear edge 14c extending vertically between the rear ends of the lower opening edge 14a and the upper opening edge 14b. A partial vertical region 20 (hereinafter referred to as the "opening interior region 20") of a glass run channel 13 having a U-shaped cross section (see FIG. 5 ) that opens forward extends vertically in front of the notch 14 (the other side). An opening 46 that opens the door interior space 9 inward in the vehicle width direction is defined between the opening lower edge 14a, opening upper edge 14b, and opening rear edge 14c of the cutout portion 14 of the door inner panel 4 and the rear end 11 of the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 (the surface facing the passenger compartment 2) of the opening interior region 20 of the glass run channel 13. The opening 46 between the cutout portion 14 of the door inner panel 4 and the glass run channel 13 (hereinafter referred to as the "opening 46 of the door inner panel 4") is closed from the inside in the vehicle width direction by a cover member 10 (described later), as shown in Figures 2 and 3B. A first bracket 17 that supports the glass run channel 13 while pressing it from the inside in the vehicle width direction is fixed to the door inner panel 4 in an area above the opening upper edge 14b of the cutout portion 14. A second bracket 18 for fixing the door trim 6 is arranged in approximately the center in the vertical direction inside the cutout portion 14. The second bracket 18 is provided with a clip mounting portion 28 to which a clip (not shown) on the door trim 6 side can be attached.
[0021] 3B and 4 , the cover member 10 is formed in a generally plate-like shape from a flexible porous material (e.g., a non-open-cell sponge material). As will be described later, the cover member 10 is placed at a predetermined mounting position on the side door 3 before the door trim 6 is attached, and is supported (clamped) by the door trim 6, a glass run 12, and the like before being attached to the side door 3. In the cover-attached state where the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3, the cover member 10 closes the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4, preventing water and dust from entering from the door interior space 9 to the vehicle interior 2 and suppressing noise transmission from the door interior space 9 to the vehicle interior 2.
[0022] As shown in Figures 3A, 3B, and 4, the cover member 10 has a cover lower end 19a, a cover upper end 19b, a cover rear end 19c, and a cover front end 19d. When the cover is attached, the cover upper end 19b extends upward beyond the opening upper edge 14b of the notch 14 and contacts the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4. When the cover is attached, the cover rear end 19c extends rearward beyond the opening rear edge 14c of the notch 14 and contacts the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4. When the cover is attached, the cover front end 19d extends forward beyond the rear surface 32 (the surface opposite the window opening 7) of the glass run channel 13 (see Figure 5) and contacts the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13. When the cover is attached, the cover lower end 19a extends downward beyond the opening lower edge 14a of the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4. A slit portion 24 extending upward from a lower edge 23 of the cover member 10 is formed in the cover lower end portion 19a. That is, the cover lower end portion 19a has a slit rear region 25 rearward of the slit portion 24 and a slit front region 26 forward of the slit portion 24. In this embodiment, the length L1 of the slit front region 26 in the front-rear direction is set to be longer than the length L2 of the slit rear region 25 in the front-rear direction (L1 > L2). When attaching the cover member 10 to the door inner panel 4, the opening lower edge 14a of the door inner panel 4 is inserted from below into the slit portion 24 of the cover lower end portion 19a and abuts against the upper end 24a of the slit portion 24. When the lower edge 14a of the opening of the door inner panel 4 is inserted into the slit portion 24 of the lower end portion 19a of the cover, the rear region 25 of the slit of the lower end portion 19a of the cover is positioned on the inside of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction (towards the passenger compartment 2), and the front region 26 of the slit of the lower end portion 19a of the cover is positioned in the door space 9 on the outside of the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction.
[0023] As shown in FIGS. 4 to 6 , a region 27 of the cover member 10 surrounded by the cover lower end 19 a, the cover upper end 19 b, the cover rear end 19 c, and the cover front end 19 d is formed with a clip insertion hole 29, an upper protrusion (protrusion) 30 disposed above the clip insertion hole 29 and protruding from an opening 46 of the door inner panel 4 toward the door interior space 9 outward in the vehicle width direction, and a lower protrusion (protrusion) 31 disposed below the clip insertion hole 29 and protruding from the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4 toward the door interior space 9 outward in the vehicle width direction. The clip insertion hole 29 is disposed at a position corresponding to the clip mounting portion 28 of the second bracket 18 in the cover attached state, allowing insertion of a clip (not shown) on the door trim 6. The upper protrusion 30 has a box-shaped portion 30 a having a rectangular box shape that opens inward in the vehicle width direction and a linear portion 30 b extending upward from the box-shaped portion 30 a. A front surface (other end) 33 of the box-shaped portion 30a (hereinafter referred to as the "front surface 33 of the upper protrusion 30") is disposed near the rear of a rear surface 32 of the opening inner region 20 of the glass run channel 13 in the cover-attached state, faces the rear surface 32, and extends in the vertical direction along the extension direction of the glass run channel 13. A rear surface (one end) 47 of the box-shaped portion 30a is disposed near the front of an opening rear edge 14c of the cutout portion 14 of the door inner panel 4 in the cover-attached state, and extends in the vertical direction along the extension direction of the opening rear edge 14c. The linear portion 30b has a first linear portion 34 extending upward from the upper rear end of the box-shaped portion 30a, and a second linear portion 35 extending forward from the upper end of the first linear portion 34. The first linear portion 34 extends in the up-down direction near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the cutout 14 in the door inner panel 4, and the upper end of the first linear portion 34 is located near the bottom of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the cutout 14. That is, the box-shaped portion 30a and the rear surface 47 of the first linear portion 34 (hereinafter referred to as the "rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30") are located near the front of the rear edge 14c of the opening of the cutout 14. The second linear portion 35 is located near the bottom of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the cutout 14 and extends in the front-rear direction along the extension direction of the upper edge 14b. That is, the upper surface 48 of the second linear portion 35 is located near the bottom of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the cutout 14. The lower protrusion 31 is formed in a box shape with a generally diamond-shaped cross section that opens inward in the vehicle width direction.A front surface (the other end) 36 of the lower protrusion 31 is disposed near the rear of a rear surface 32 of the opening inner region 20 of the glass run channel 13 in the cover-attached state, faces the rear surface 32, and extends vertically along the extension direction of the glass run channel 13. A rear surface (one end) 37 of the lower protrusion 31 is disposed near the front of an opening rear edge 14c of the cutout 14 in the door inner panel 4 in the cover-attached state, and extends vertically along the extension direction of the opening rear edge 14c. The front surface 33 of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 are disposed forward of the slit portion 24. An upper surface 38 and a lower surface 39 of the lower protrusion 31 extend linearly from an upper-rear direction to a lower-front direction and are inclined with respect to the horizontal direction between the front and rear.
[0024] The glass run 12 has a glass entry recess 40 into which the rear end of the window glass 8 enters, an exterior lip portion 41 that extends from the front end portion of the glass entry recess 40 on the outer side in the vehicle width direction toward the rear outside in the vehicle width direction and covers the front edge portion of the door outer panel 5 from the outer side in the vehicle width direction, and a passenger compartment lip portion 42 that extends from the front end portion of the glass entry recess 40 on the inner side in the vehicle width direction toward the rear inside in the vehicle width direction and covers the inner side surface 22 of the front end side of the glass run channel 13 from the inner side in the vehicle width direction. Note that a pair of left and right seal lips 43, 44 that come into contact with the window glass 8 from both sides in the vehicle width direction are provided within the glass entry recess 40.
[0025] Before the cover member 10 and the door trim 6 are attached to the side door 3, the door inner panel 4 and the door outer panel 5 are joined together, the window glass 8 is arranged within the door space 9, a glass run channel 13 and a glass run 12 are provided around the periphery of the window opening 7, and the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4 opens inward in the vehicle width direction.
[0026] When attaching the cover member 10 to the side door 3, first, the opening lower edge 14a of the door inner panel 4 is inserted from below into the slit portion 24 of the cover member 10 so that the slit rear region 25 of the cover member 10 is positioned inside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction and the slit front region 26 is positioned in the door interior space 9 outside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, and the opening lower edge 14a is brought into contact with the upper end 24a of the slit portion 24. Next, the upper protrusion 30 and the lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 are inserted between the notch 14 of the door inner panel 4 and the rear surface 32 of the opening interior region 20 of the glass run channel 13 from inside in the vehicle width direction. In this state, the cover member 10 is disposed in the predetermined mounting position, and the front surface 33 of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 are disposed near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening inner region 20 of the glass run channel 13, the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 are disposed near the front of the opening rear edge 14c of the cutout 14, the first linear portion 34 of the upper protrusion 30 is disposed near the front of the opening rear edge 14c of the cutout 14, and the second linear portion 35 of the upper protrusion 30 is disposed near the bottom of the opening upper edge 14b of the cutout 14. Next, substantially the entire vertical area of the cover front end 19d of the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13 and the cabin-side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. At this point, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched at least between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment-side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. Finally, a clip (not shown) on the door trim 6 side is inserted into the clip insertion hole 29 of the cover member 10 from the inside in the vehicle width direction and engaged with the clip attaching portion 28 of the second bracket 18. With the door trim 6 attached to the side door 3, at least a partial region of the cover rear end portion 19c of the cover member 10 (for example, the region whose cross section is shown in FIG. 5 ) is pressed toward the door inner panel 4 (outside in the vehicle width direction) by the cover pressing portion 6a provided on the door trim 6, and is sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 and the cover pressing portion 6a of the door trim 6.That is, in this embodiment, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, and also sandwiched between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. The cover pressing portion 6a of the door trim 6 faces the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 on the vehicle width direction inner side of the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4.
[0027] In the cover member 10 configured as described above, in the cover attached state, the upper protrusion 30 and the lower protrusion 31 protrude from the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4 toward the door interior space 9, and the front surface 33 of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 are disposed near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening interior region 20 of the glass run channel 13 and face the rear surface 32. Therefore, when the cover member 10 is attached to the attachment position of the side door 3, if the cover member 10 attempts to move forward relative to the predetermined attachment position, the front surfaces 33 of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 abut against the rear surface 32 of the glass run channel 13, thereby preventing the cover member 10 from moving forward relative to the predetermined attachment position.
[0028] Furthermore, in the cover attached state, the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 are disposed near the front of the opening rear edge 14c of the cutout 14 and face the opening rear edge 14c. Therefore, when attaching the cover member 10 to the attachment position of the side door 3, if the cover member 10 attempts to move rearward relative to the predetermined attachment position, the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 abut against the opening rear edge 14c of the cutout 14, thereby preventing the cover member 10 from moving rearward relative to the predetermined attachment position.
[0029] Furthermore, in the cover attached state, the upper surface 48 of the second linear portion 35 of the upper protrusion 30 is positioned near the lower side of the upper edge 14b of the opening of the cutout 14. Therefore, when attaching the cover member 10 to the attachment position of the side door 3, if the cover member 10 attempts to move upward relative to the predetermined attachment position, the upper surface 48 of the second linear portion 35 abuts against the upper edge 14b of the opening of the cutout 14, thereby preventing the cover member 10 from moving upward relative to the predetermined attachment position.
[0030] Furthermore, when attaching the cover member 10 to the side door 3, the lower edge 14a of the opening of the door inner panel 4 is inserted from below into the slit portion 24 of the cover member 10, and the lower edge 14a of the opening is abutted against the upper end 24a of the slit portion 24, so that the cover member 10 can be easily positioned downward relative to the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4.
[0031] Therefore, according to this embodiment, the workability when attaching the cover member 10 to the above-mentioned attachment position of the side door 3 can be improved.
[0032] Furthermore, the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 is positioned forward of the slit 24, and the upper surface 38 of the lower protrusion 31 is inclined from the upper rear to the lower front. Therefore, water that flows down the door interior space 9 and reaches the upper surface 38 of the lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 can be guided forward along the upper surface 38 of the lower protrusion 31 toward the slit front region 26. The slit front region 26 is positioned on the door interior space 9 side, outside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, and therefore water can be effectively prevented from entering the vehicle interior 2 through the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4.
[0033] Furthermore, the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 is positioned forward of the slit 24, and the lower surface 39 of the lower protrusion 31 is inclined from the upper rear to the lower front. Therefore, water that flows down along the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 in the door interior space 9 and reaches the lower surface 39 of the cover member 10 can be guided forward along the lower surface 39 of the lower protrusion 31 to the slit front region 26 side, thereby effectively preventing water from entering the vehicle interior 2 through the opening 46 of the door inner panel 4.
[0034] In addition, since the cover front end portion 19d of the cover member 10 is clamped between the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, the cover member 10 can function as a sealing member that prevents water from entering the vehicle compartment 2.
[0035] In addition, since a portion of the rear cover end portion 19c of the cover member 10 (for example, the area shown in cross section in Figure 5) is sandwiched between the door trim 6 and the door inner panel 4, the above-mentioned area of the rear cover end portion 19c of the cover member 10 that is sandwiched between the door trim 6 and the door inner panel 4 can function as a sealing member that prevents water from entering the passenger compartment 2.
[0036] Furthermore, since the cover member 10 is made of a flexible porous material, it can effectively function as a sealing member that prevents water from entering the passenger compartment 2 side.
[0037] The cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. This reduces the number of parts compared to when the cover member 10 is attached to the peripheral edge of the cutout 14 of the door inner panel 4 using other members (e.g., butyl tape or bolts).
[0038] The cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. This reduces the number of parts compared to when the cover member 10 is attached to the glass run channel 13 with other members (e.g., butyl tape or bolts).
[0039] The cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. The passenger compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12 is relatively thinner in the vehicle width direction than butyl tape, so the thickness in the vehicle width direction of the attachment portion of the cover front end portion 19d of the cover member 10 to the glass run channel 13 can be reduced compared to, for example, when the cover member 10 is attached to the glass run channel 13 with butyl tape or the like.
[0040] In this embodiment, a partial area in the up-down direction of the cover rear end 19c of the cover member 10 (for example, the area whose cross section is shown in FIG. 5 ) is sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6, but substantially the entire area in the up-down direction of the cover rear end 19c may be sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. Alternatively, the cover rear end 19c of the cover member 10 does not have to be sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 4a of the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6.
[0041] In addition, in the present embodiment, substantially the entire vertical area of the cover front end 19d of the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12, but a partial vertical area of the cover front end 19d may be sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12. Alternatively, the cover front end 19d of the cover member 10 does not have to be sandwiched between the vehicle width direction inner surface 22 of the glass run channel 13 and the vehicle compartment side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12.
[0042] In the present embodiment, the cover member 10 is attached to the side door 3 by being sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment-side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12 and between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6, but this is not limitative. For example, the cover member 10 may be attached to the side door 3 with other members (e.g., butyl tape or bolts) while the cover front end 19 d of the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the glass run channel 13 and the passenger compartment-side lip portion 42 of the glass run 12 or the cover rear end 19 c of the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the door inner panel 4 and the door trim 6. Even in this case, since the cover member 10 is sandwiched between the other members when attaching the cover member 10 to the side door 3, misalignment of the cover member 10 can be suppressed, improving the workability of the installation of the cover member 10.
[0043] In addition, in this embodiment, both the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 of the lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 are inclined from the upper rear to the lower front, but this is not limited to this, and either the upper surface 38 or the lower surface 39 may be inclined from the upper rear to the lower front, or both the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 may not be inclined in the front-to-rear direction.
[0044] In this embodiment, the front surface 33 of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 are positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening inner area 20 of the glass run channel 13, and the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 are positioned near the front of the opening rear edge 14c of the cutout portion 14, but this is not limited to this. For example, the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 may be positioned near the front of the opening rear edge 14 c of the cutout 14, without the front surface 33 of the upper protrusion 30 and the front surface 36 of the lower protrusion 31 being positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening interior region 20 of the glass run channel 13; alternatively, the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 may be positioned near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening interior region 20 of the glass run channel 13, without the rear surface 47 of the upper protrusion 30 and the rear surface 37 of the lower protrusion 31 being positioned near the front of the opening rear edge 14 c of the cutout 14.
[0045] In addition, in this embodiment, the cover member 10 is provided with two protrusions, the lower protrusion 31 and the upper protrusion 30, but it is sufficient if the cover member 10 is provided with at least one protrusion.
[0046] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the lower protrusion (protrusion) 31 of the cover member 10 is formed in a box shape with a generally diamond-shaped cross section that opens inward in the vehicle width direction, and the upper protrusion (protrusion) 30 is formed by a box-shaped portion 30a and a linear portion 30b, but the shape of the protrusion is not limited to the above, and it may have another shape (for example, a linear rib) as long as it protrudes outward in the vehicle width direction and at least one of its ends on one side or the other side in the fore-and-aft direction is located near the front of the opening rear edge 14c of the cutout portion 14 or near the rear of the rear surface 32 of the opening inner region 20 of the glass run channel 13.
[0047] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the cover member 10 is provided with the slit portion 24, but the slit portion 24 does not have to be provided.
[0048] In addition, in this embodiment, the slit rear region (compartment side region) 25 of the cover member 10 is arranged inside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, and the slit front region (door inner region) 26 is arranged in the door inner space 9 outside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, but the slit rear region 25 may be arranged in the door inner space 9 outside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction, and the slit front region 26 may be arranged inside the door inner panel 4 in the vehicle width direction. In this case, at least one of the upper surface 38 and the lower surface 39 of the lower protrusion 31 of the cover member 10 may be inclined from the front upper side to the rear lower side.
[0049] In addition, in this embodiment, the clip insertion holes 29 are provided in the cover member 10, but the clip insertion holes 29 do not necessarily have to be provided.
[0050] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the cover member 10 is formed from a flexible porous material, but this is not limited to this, and the cover member 10 may be formed from other materials (for example, a resin panel, etc.).
[0051] In the present embodiment, the opening 46 of the notch 14 behind the window opening 7 of the door inner panel 4 is covered with the cover member 10, but this is not limited to this. For example, if a notch is provided in front of the window opening 7 of the door inner panel 4, the opening of the notch in the door inner panel 4 may be covered with the cover member 10.
[0052] Although the present invention has been described above based on the above embodiment, the present invention is not limited to the content of the above embodiment, and can be modified as appropriate without departing from the scope of the present invention. In other words, all other embodiments, examples, operational techniques, etc. made by those skilled in the art based on this embodiment are naturally included in the scope of the present invention.
[0053] For example, in the above embodiment, the cover member 10 and cover member mounting structure according to the present disclosure are applied to the side door (door panel) 3 of the vehicle 1, but they may also be applied to a back door (door panel) that can open the passenger compartment 2 of the vehicle 1 rearward.
[0054] This application is based on a Japanese patent application (Patent Application No. 2019-045899) filed on March 13, 2019, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
[0055] The cover member and cover member mounting structure according to the present disclosure can be widely applied to vehicle door panels.
