Abstract
Claims
1. The process of fabricating nanometer-scale silver wires for application in Raman Signal Extension Systems (SERS) consists of:
1. Preparation of a silver film on a silicon substrate by cleaning the silicon substrate and coating it with titanium before applying the unique silver film.
2. Synthesis of a solid-state electrolyte of silver sulfide. The silver film on the silicon substrate obtained from the preparation step is immersed in a 2-10 mmol sodium sulfide solution for 6-24 hours, inducing a redox reaction to create a solid-state electrolyte of beta-silver sulfide ((formula)-Ag2S) coated on the silver film on the silicon substrate.
3. Fabrication of nanometer-scale silver wires. The solid-state electrolyte of beta-silver sulfide ((formula)-Ag2S) prepared in the synthesis step is electron-beamed under a scanning electron microscope to create nanometer-scale silver wires on the solid-state electrolyte of beta-silver sulfide ((formula)-Ag2S).The fabrication of nanometer-scale silver wires for surface Raman signal enhancement (SERS) applications under Patent 1, where the preparation of the silver film on a silicon substrate involves coating the silver film using the AREF magnetron sputtering technique.
3. Nanometer-scale silver wires prepared by the fabrication of nanometer-scale silver wires for surface Raman signal enhancement (SERS) applications under Patent 1 or 2, where these nanometer-scale silver wires are mounted on a solid electrolyte coating of silver sulfide as the top layer of a silicon substrate to enhance the Raman signal or Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS).
