Abstract
Description
Defoliated cell processing device
[0001] The present invention relates to a technology for an exfoliated cell processing device that obtains exfoliated cells from a vial containing a specimen (e.g., exfoliated cells and a liquid medium) containing exfoliated cells of the human body and spreads them thinly on a cell smear slide.
[0002] More specifically, the present invention relates to a technique for extracting a portion of a sample from the inside of a vial by moving up and down through an upper opening of the vial containing the sample, and then thinly spreading a portion of the extracted sample onto a cell smear slide placed adjacent to the vial.
[0003] Generally, after obtaining exfoliative cells from a human specimen, the condition of the cells can be observed and diagnosed by smearing the obtained cells onto a slide for cytology testing.
[0004] Here, accurate observation and diagnosis of each exfoliated cell can be achieved when the exfoliated cells smeared on the cytology slide form a single thin layer without overlapping.
[0005] However, conventional smearing of slides for cytology examinations was performed manually by the user using tools (e.g., droppers, cotton swabs).
[0006] As a result, due to the characteristics of exfoliated cells, there was a risk of infection when exposed to the user's skin, and when smeared by manual manipulation, the exfoliated cells formed uneven layers and overlapped with each other, hindering observation and diagnosis.
[0007] Accordingly, there is a need to implement a smearing technique that excludes the conventional technique of manually handling a sample using a tool, suctions a portion of the sample from a vial containing the sample, and then thinly spreads a portion of the suctioned sample onto a cell smear slide.
[0008] The present invention is proposed in consideration of the above-mentioned points, and the objective of the present invention is to provide an exfoliated cell processing device that performs a smearing operation in which a predetermined amount of a sample inside a vial containing a sample is suctioned out, and then some of the exfoliated cells from the suctioned sample are thinly spread onto a cell smear slide.
[0009] To achieve the above objective, the exfoliated cell processing device according to the present invention comprises: a base (110); a support wall (120) positioned and erected on the upper surface of the base; a container support member (131) that is seated on the upper surface of the base and has an open top containing exfoliated cells and liquid medium, and which is seated on its upper surface; a sample collector (140) that collects exfoliated cells and liquid medium within the container member by moving up and down along the length direction of the support wall and the inside and outside of the container member while gripped by the container support member; a suction guide block (150) that moves along the wall of the support wall while gripping the sample collector and interfaces to allow the sample collector to suction the exfoliated cells and liquid medium within the container member; and a suction pump (160) that operates under the control of a pump operation control unit to allow the sample collector to suction the exfoliated cells and liquid medium within the container member while the sample collector is inserted into the inside of the container member, and provides suction force to the sample collector through the suction guide block. It may be configured to include a cell smear slide (170) that is positioned on the side of a container support member and moves left and right together with the container support member, and is positioned vertically below the sample collector, and contacts the lower surface of the sample collector when the sample collector is stroked downward, thereby causing the sloughed-off cells attached to the lower surface of the sample collector to be smeared on its upper surface.
[0010] At this time, the sample collector (140) may be configured to include: a hollow collector body (141) with an open top; a perforated plate (142) arranged to mechanically block the lower part of the container member and having a plurality of perforations formed to allow the entry and exit of shed cells and liquid medium within the container member; and a cell collecting plate (143) mounted on the lower surface of the perforated plate, which, when suction force is provided within the collector body in conjunction with the suction operation of a suction pump, allows the liquid medium within the container member to pass through to move into the collector body and filters the shed cells within the container member on its lower surface.
[0011] And, the suction guide block (150) comprises: a user operation block (151) formed in a block shape to move along the wall of the support wall according to the user's grip operation; a support plate (152) mounted on the lower surface of the user operation block; a suction holder member (153) that is inserted vertically by sequentially penetrating the support plate and the user operation block to communicate with the suction pump, and transmits suction force from the suction pump to the sample collector as the open upper part of the sample collector is inserted into its lower part; and an O-ring (154) arranged in a shape that wraps around the outer wall of the suction holder member to maintain a state in which the inner wall of the sample collector and the outer wall of the suction holder member are in close contact with each other while the sample collector is inserted into the suction holder member. It may be configured to include: a downward ejector (155) which is positioned on the lower surface of a support plate with its central part penetrating the suction holder member, separates a specimen collector fitted into the suction holder member from the suction holder member when moving downward along the outer surface of the suction holder member, and moves upward along the outer surface of the suction holder member by means of elastic force; a plurality of movable rods (156) which have their lower ends connected to the downward ejector while penetrating the support plate and stroke the downward ejector downward when stroked downward according to user operation; a stroke handle (157) which is arranged in a manner that connects the plurality of movable rods corresponding to the upper part of the support plate, transmits a downward external force according to user operation to the plurality of movable rods so that the plurality of movable rods stroke downward; and a spring that is fitted into the movable rod corresponding to the stroke handle and the support plate and has a tensile force that expands along the longitudinal direction of the movable rod, thereby causing the upper surface of the downward ejector to naturally come into contact with the lower surface of the support plate.
[0012] Meanwhile, the present invention may further comprise: a horizontal guide rail (210) arranged horizontally on the upper surface of a base corresponding to the front of a support wall; a left-right movement guide block (220) that slides left and right along the horizontal guide rail with a container support member connected to its upper surface and a slide support member (132) on which a cell smear slide is seated corresponding to the side of the container support member connected; and first and second stoppers (230, 240) respectively disposed at both ends of the horizontal guide rail to control the left-right movement of the left-right movement guide block.
[0013] And, it may further comprise a vertical guide rail (310) arranged vertically in the vertical direction on the front of the support wall where the suction guide block is located; a vertical movement guide block that slides vertically along the vertical guide rail with the suction guide block connected integrally; third and fourth stoppers (330, 340) respectively placed at the upper and lower ends of the vertical guide rail to control the vertical movement of the suction guide block; and a tension member configured to have an upward restoring force while mounted on the vertical movement guide block, thereby causing the vertical movement guide block to naturally catch on the third stopper placed at the upper end of the vertical guide rail.
[0014] Additionally, it may be configured to further include a waste liquid container member (410) that is connected to the suction holder member via a conduit while seated on the base, and temporarily stores the liquid medium drawn into the suction holder member when the liquid medium in the container member is drawn into the suction holder member by the operation of the suction pump.
[0015] On the other hand, the present invention may further comprise: a cut slot member (121) formed by penetrating the support wall along the vertical direction of the support wall parallel to the vertical guide rail; a pump operation switch (420) disposed on the rear side of the support wall adjacent to the cut slot member and which turns the operation of the suction pump on or off under the control of the pump operation control unit by transmitting a switching on / off signal to the pump operation control unit; and a suction arm (430) connected to the rear side of the suction guide block through the cut slot member and configured to cause the pump operation switch to generate a switching on / off signal by moving a pump operation lever provided on the pump operation switch when moving in the vertical direction in conjunction with the vertical movement of the suction guide block.
[0016] The present invention has the advantage that, due to the provision of a sample collector, some sloughed-off cells adhere to the lower surface of the sample collector in a thinly spread state during the process of suctioning a portion of the sample from the vial.
[0017] In addition, the present invention has the advantage that, as exfoliated cells are suctioned while thinly spread on the lower surface of the sample collector, some of the exfoliated cells located at the bottom of the sample collector are thinly spread and adhered to the upper surface of the cell smear slide solely through the motion of the sample collector stroking in the up-and-down direction.
[0018] In addition, the present invention also exhibits the advantage of compactly configuring the exfoliated cell processing device by configuring the container support member and the slide support member to be positioned vertically below the sample collector while moving left and right while mounted on a left-right movement guide block. Conventional exfoliated cell processing devices separately provided a configuration for suctioning exfoliated cells from a container member and a configuration for spreading the suctioned exfoliated cells onto a slide, which inevitably resulted in a limitation where the equipment size was considerably large.

[0029] The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.
[0030] FIG. 1 is an exemplary figure 1 illustrating a defoliated cell processing device according to the present invention, FIG. 2 is an exemplary figure 2 illustrating a defoliated cell processing device according to the present invention, FIG. 3 is a figure showing the state in which the outer housing is removed from FIG. 1, FIG. 4 is a figure showing FIG. 3 from a different angle, and FIG. 5 is a figure showing FIG. 4 with the horizontal guide rail and the vertical guide rail exposed.
[0031] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 5, the exfoliated cell processing device according to the present invention comprises a base (110), a support wall (120), a container support member (131), a sample collector (140), a suction guide block (150), a suction pump (160), and a cell smear slide (170).
[0032] The base (110) mounts each configuration of the present invention, including a support wall (120) and an auxiliary support wall (125), on its upper surface as shown in FIGS. 1 to 5.
[0033] At this time, an outer housing (510) that wraps around the edge of the support wall (120) can be mounted on the upper surface of the base (110) in a manner that covers each configuration placed on the rear of the support wall (120) as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
[0034] As the support wall (120) is formed in the shape of a flat plate as shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 and is positioned upright on the upper surface of the base (110), it divides its front section where the container member (10) is located and its rear section where the waste liquid container member (410) is located.
[0035] And, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, a plate-shaped auxiliary support wall (125) can be erected on the rear section of the support wall (120) so as to be perpendicular to the support wall (120) and mounted on the upper surface of the base (110).
[0036] Here, the container member (10) may have an opening formed at its top for access to and from the inside and outside so that it can hold a sample (e.g., sloughed-off cells and liquid medium) inside itself as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3.
[0037] Here, the 'specimen' consists of a liquid component of the human body and sloughed-off cells mixed within that liquid component, derived from a substance obtained from the human body. Furthermore, since the liquid component acts as an interface that allows the sloughed-off cells to be mixed or suspended, it is referred to as a liquid medium for the sloughed-off cells.
[0038] In addition, the 'specimen' may include by-products obtained from the human body in addition to sloughed-off cells and liquid medium.
[0039] The container support member (131) is formed in a block shape as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 and is placed on the upper surface of the base (110), and the container member (10) with an open top containing a sample is placed on its upper surface.
[0040] Referring to FIG. 1, the sample collector (140) collects a sample inside the container member (10) by moving up and down along the longitudinal direction of the support wall (120) and into and out of the container member (10) which is gripped by the container support member (131).
[0041] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, the suction guide block (150) is configured to move up and down along the wall of the support wall (120) while gripping the sample collector (140), and interfaces the sample collector (140) to suction the sample within the container member (10).
[0042] Here, the power for the suction guide block (150) to move in the up and down direction of the support wall (120) from the front of the support wall (120) can be achieved by the user moving in the up and down direction of the support wall (120) while gripping the suction guide block (150).
[0043] The suction pump (160) provides suction force to the sample collector (140) while mounted on the side wall of the auxiliary support wall (125) as shown in FIG. 4.
[0044] That is, when the suction pump (160) is operated under the control of a pump operation control unit (not shown) while the sample collector (140) is inserted into the inner side of the container member (10), the sample collector (140) suctions the sample inside the container member (10) according to the suction force of the suction pump (160) which communicates with the sample collector (140) through the suction guide block (150).
[0045] As a result, a portion of the sample is sucked into the inner side of the sample collector (140), and some of the detached cells from the sample suctioned from the inner side of the container member (10) are adsorbed on the lower surface of the sample collector (140).
[0046] The cell smear slide (170) is placed on the side of the container support member (131) as in FIGS. 1 and 2 and moves left and right together with the container support member (131) according to the user's left and right operation.
[0047] Here, when the cell smear slide (170) is placed vertically below the sample collector (140) as in FIG. 2 and the upper surface of the cell smear slide (170) and the lower surface of the sample collector (140) come into contact with each other during a downward stroke of the sample collector (140), the sloughed-off cells adhering to the lower surface of the sample collector (140) are adhering to the upper surface of the cell smear slide (170).
[0048] In this case, since the exfoliated cells on the upper surface of the cell smear slide (170) are thinly deposited as a single layer, accurate examination of the exfoliated cells can be performed through the microscope simply by placing it directly on the slide holder of the microscope.
[0049] Meanwhile, with reference to FIGS. 1 to 5, the shedding cell processing device according to the present invention may further comprise a horizontal guide rail (210), a left-right moving guide block (220), a first stopper (230), a second stopper (240), a vertical guide rail (310), a vertical moving guide block (320), a third stopper (330), a fourth stopper (340), a waste liquid container member (410), an incision slot member (121), a pump operation switch (420), and a suction arm (430).
[0050] As shown in FIG. 5, the horizontal guide rail (210) is arranged horizontally on the upper surface of the base (110) corresponding to the front of the support wall (120), and the left-right movement guide block (220) slides left and right along the horizontal guide rail (210).
[0051] Then, the left-right movement guide block (220) slides left and right along the horizontal guide rail (210) with the container support member (131) connected to the upper surface of the left-right movement guide block (220) and the slide support member (132) connected to the side of the container support member (131) on which the cell smear slide (170) is seated.
[0052] Here, a left-right movement mounting block (221) is mounted on the upper surface of the left-right movement guide block (220), and a container support member (131) and a slide support member (132) are integrally connected to the left-right movement mounting block (221), so that the left-right movement mounting block (221) moves according to the movement of the left-right movement guide block (220).
[0053] The first stopper (230) controls the leftward movement of the left-right movement guide block (220) moving along the horizontal guide rail (210), and the second stopper (240) controls the rightward movement of the left-right movement guide block (220) moving along the horizontal guide rail (210).
[0054] As shown in FIG. 5, the vertical guide rail (310) is arranged vertically along the front of the support wall (120) where the suction guide block (150) is located, and the vertical movement guide block (320) slides vertically along the vertical guide rail (310).
[0055] Here, the vertical moving guide block (320) slides up and down along the vertical guide rail (310) with the suction guide block (150) connected integrally.
[0056] The third stopper (330) is positioned at the upper end of the vertical guide rail (310) to control the upward movement of the suction guide block (150), and the fourth stopper (340) is positioned at the lower end of the vertical guide rail (310) to control the downward movement of the suction guide block (150).
[0057] The tension member (not shown) is configured to have an upward restoring force while mounted on the vertical movement guide block (320), so that when no external force (e.g., user operation) is applied to the suction guide block (150), the vertical movement guide block (320) is caught on the third stopper (330).
[0058] For example, when a user pulls the suction guide block (150) downward to move the sample collector (140) downward, the suction guide block (150) moves downward along the vertical guide rail (310), and when the user releases the external force applied to the suction guide block (150), the suction guide block (150) moves upward again along the vertical guide rail (310) until the vertical movement guide block (320) is caught on the third stopper (330).
[0059] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the waste liquid container member (410) is connected to the suction holder member (153) via a conduit (not shown) while seated on the base (110), and when the liquid medium inside the container member (10) is drawn into the suction holder member (153) by the operation of the suction pump (160), the drawn-in liquid medium is temporarily stored until it is disposed of in an external location according to the user's operation.
[0060] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, the cut slot member (121) is formed by penetrating the support wall (120) along the vertical direction of the support wall (120) parallel to the vertical guide rail (310).
[0061] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the pump operation switch (420) is positioned on the rear of the support wall (120) adjacent to the cut slot member (121) and transmits a switching on / off signal to the pump operation control unit (not shown), thereby turning the operation of the suction pump (160) on / off under the control of the pump operation control unit (not shown).
[0062] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the suction arm (430) passes through the cut slot member (121) and is connected to the rear surface of the suction guide block (150). When it moves up and down in conjunction with the up and down movement of the suction guide block (150), it moves the pump operation lever (not shown) provided in the pump operation switch (420).
[0063] As a result, the pump operation switch (420) generates a switching on / off signal to be transmitted to the pump operation control unit (not shown) for turning the suction pump (160) on / off in conjunction with the movement of the pump operation lever (not shown).
[0064] Meanwhile, reference numeral 460 indicates a suction time setting button, and reference numeral 470 indicates a power button.
[0065] Here, the suction time control unit (not shown) corresponding to the suction time setting button (460) may be configured to control the operation time (e.g., 3 seconds) of the suction pump (160) in conjunction with the pump operation control unit (not shown).
[0066] FIG. 6 is a drawing showing a suction guide block with a sample collector mounted thereon, which is a component of the present invention; FIG. 7 is a drawing showing a suction guide block with the sample collector removed from FIG. 6; and FIG. 8 is a drawing showing each component of the suction guide block separated from FIG. 7.
[0067] The suction guide block (150) may be configured to include a user operation block (151), a support plate (152), a suction holder member (153), an O-ring (154), a downward ejector (155), a moving rod (156), a stroke handle (157), and a spring (not shown), as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8.
[0068] The user operation block (151) is formed in a block shape to enable grip operation by the user and moves along the wall of the support wall (120) according to the user's movement operation or the restoring force of the tension member.
[0069] The support plate (152) is formed in the shape of a flat plate as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8 and is mounted on the lower surface of the user operation block (151).
[0070] The suction holder member (153) is inserted vertically into the support plate (152) and the user operation block (151) by sequentially penetrating them so as to communicate with the suction pump (160).
[0071] And, the suction holder member (153) is configured to transmit suction force by the suction pump (160) to the sample collector (140) as the open upper part of the sample collector (140) is fitted into its lower part.
[0072] Here, the suction holder member (153) can be connected to a suction pump (160) mounted on an auxiliary support wall (125) via a conduit (not shown).
[0073] As shown in FIG. 8, the O-ring (154) is arranged to wrap around the outer wall of the suction holder member (153), thereby maintaining a state in which the inner wall of the sample collector (140) and the outer wall of the suction holder member (153) are in close contact with each other while the sample collector (140) is fitted into the suction holder member (153).
[0074] The downward ejector (155) is positioned on the lower surface of the support plate (152) with its central part penetrating the suction holder member (153) as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8.
[0075] The downward ejector (155) is configured to move downward along the outer surface of the suction holder member (153) as in FIG. 7, separate the sample collector (140) fitted into the suction holder member (153) from the suction holder member (153), and move upward along the outer surface of the suction holder member (153) as in FIG. 6 by means of the elastic restoring force of the spring fitted into the moving rod (156).
[0076] Here, as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, a plurality of moving rods (156) are connected at their lower ends to a downward ejector (155) with the supporting plate (152) penetrating them, and the downward ejector (155) is stroked downwards when a downward stroke is performed according to user operation.
[0077] The stroke handle (157) is arranged in a manner that connects a plurality of movable rods (156) corresponding to the upper part of the support plate (152), thereby transmitting a downward external force according to the user's operation to the plurality of movable rods (156) so that the plurality of movable rods (156) stroke downward.
[0078] A spring (not shown) is fitted into a corresponding moving rod (156) between the stroke handle (157) and the support plate (152).
[0079] As a result, the spring (not shown) forms a tensile force that extends along the longitudinal direction of the moving rod (156), and accordingly, the upper surface of the downward ejector (155) naturally comes into contact with the lower surface of the support plate (152).
[0080]
[0081] Meanwhile, referring to FIGS. 1 to 8, the operation of the sloughed-off cell treatment device according to the present invention is briefly described as follows.
[0082] First, the device is turned on by pressing the power button (470). Then, as the suction time setting button (460) is operated, the suction time control unit (not shown) is linked with the pump operation control unit (not shown) to set the suction duration of the suction pump (160), which is the operation time per cycle (e.g., 3 seconds).
[0083] Next, the sample collector (140) is mounted on the suction holder member (153), and the cell smear slide (170) and the container member (10) are loaded.
[0084] And, according to user operation of the suction guide block (150), the lower part of the sample collector (140) is placed inside the container member (10).
[0085] At this time, when the sample collector (140) moves downward, suction is automatically started according to the operation of the suction pump (160), and suction is continued for a set time when the user operates the suction time setting button (460).
[0086] During the suction process, the detached cells within the container member (10) are deposited on the cell collecting filter (143) mounted on the lower part of the sample collector (140), and the liquid medium among them moves to the inside of the sample collector (140).
[0087] Then, the left-right moving mounting block (221) is moved sideways according to user operation so that the cell smear slide (170) is positioned vertically below the sample collector (140).
[0088] Next, when the suction guide block (150) is pulled downward according to user operation, the sample collector (140) moves downward, and the cell collecting filter (143) mounted on the lower part of the sample collector (140) comes into contact with the cell smear slide (170), and some of the sloughed-off cells that were stuck to the lower surface of the cell collecting filter (143) are smeared onto the upper surface of the cell smear slide (170) like a stamp.
[0089] Here, even when the sample collector (140) is positioned vertically above the cell smear slide (170), the suction pump (160) operates in conjunction with the vertical up-and-down movement of the suction guide block (150) so that the sample collector (140) performs a suction operation.
[0090] In this way, when the sample collector (140) moving vertically up and down on the cell smear slide (170) performs suction, it will be possible to prevent the liquid medium contained inside the sample collector (140) from falling downward.
[0091] Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the sample collector extracted and cut from Fig. 8, and Fig. 10 is a drawing of Fig. 9 shown from a different angle.
[0092] The sample collector (140) may be configured to include a collector body (141), a perforated plate (142), and a cell collecting filter (143).
[0093] The collector body (141) may be formed as a hollow cylinder with an open top, as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10.
[0094] The perforated plate (142) can be arranged in a manner that mechanically blocks the lower part of the container member (10) as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10. Additionally, the perforated plate (142) has a plurality of perforations formed therein to allow the entry and exit of shed cells and liquid medium within the container member (10).
[0095] Here, the collector body (141) and the through-hole plate (142) can be integrally molded as a plastic injection molded product.
[0096] The cell collecting filter (143) is mounted on the lower surface of the perforated plate (142) as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10. The cell collecting filter (143) may preferably be composed of a membrane filter, which is a porous membrane.
[0097] As a result, when suction force is provided within the collector body (141) in conjunction with the suction operation of the suction pump (160), the cell collecting filter (143) allows the liquid medium within the container member (10) to pass through to move into the collector body (141), and filters out the shed cells within the container member (10) on its lower surface.
[0098] At this time, the external force received by the cell collecting filter (143) by the suction force of the suction pump (160) can be supported by the through-hole plate (142).
[0099] In detail, the cell collecting filter (143) may be composed of a sponge sub-membrane and a film micro-membrane. The sub-membrane is responsible for absorbing liquid medium, and the micro-membrane is located on the underside of the sub-membrane and is the part that comes into direct contact with the shed cells.
