Claims

1. A motor assembled with: a shaft, a rotor with an iron core mounted on the shaft and around which the rotor windings are wound, and a disc-shaped commutator connected to the rotor windings; brushes arranged in the axial direction so that they face the commutator; brush holders pressing the brushes against the commutator; radial bearings supporting the shaft in the radial direction and thrust bearings supporting the shaft in the axial direction, where the first distance, which is the axial distance between the brush holders and the commutator, is greater than the second distance, which is the axial clearance between the shaft and the thrust bearings.

2. A motor according to claim 1 where the third distance, which is the distance by which the brushes can extend from the brush holders, is greater than the first distance. 3.Any motor under claims 1 and 2 where the rotor has a commutator holder that supports the commutator and where its outer circumference enclosing the commutator circumference protrudes in the axial direction more than the commutator protrudes, and where the fourth distance, which is the axial distance between the brush holder and the outer circumference of the commutator holder, is greater than the second distance.

4. Any motor under claims 1 to 3 where the thrust bearing is supported by a flexible part that presses the shaft in the axial direction in which the brush holder presses the brushes to the commutator.

5. Any motor under claim 4 where the force of the flexible part is greater than the force in which the brush holder presses the brushes to the commutator.

6. Any motor under claims 1 to 5 where the brush holder can accommodate the brushes in such a way that each end face of the brush holder and the brushes lie on the same plane.

7. Any motor under claims 1 to 6 which is utilized in such a way that its outer and inner circumferences are immersed in fuel. 8.A motor under any of the claims 1 through 7 in which the commutator contact surfaces that form contact with the brushes are formed from porous carbon; 9. A fuel pump including a motor under any of the claims 1 through 8;
