TITLE: ACCESS SYSTEM FOR PRODUCT INFORMATIONFIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present Invention relates generally to an access system for product information, and in particular but not exclusively to machine- readable identifiers for use on products such as in the healthcare, disinfectant, skincare and food industry. BACKGROUND
[0002] Machine-readable identifiers, such as quick response (QR) codes, maxicodes, data matrix codes, near-field communication (NFC) tags, snaptags, bluetooth beacons etc. are well-established in various industries to provide quick and easy access to product information. They work by encoding data into a unique visual representation that can be read by an optical scanner or a device with a camera and decoding software. Some key areas where machine-readable identifiers are utilised include the healthcare, skincare and food industries.
[0003] In the healthcare industry, machine-readable identifiers have been used for a variety of purposes, including patient identification, medication administration and tracking of medical equipment. They have also been used to provide patients with information about their medication and treatment, making it easier for them to understand their condition and manage their own health.
[0004] In the skincare and food industries, machine-readable identifiers have been used for inventory management, tracking products through the supply chain and providing consumers with information about the products they are purchasing, such as ingredients, directions for uses and any potential side effects.

This information is described to include data that relates to the individual, such as the individual’s name, IUD manufacturer, drug name, labelled amount, frequency of medication (e.g. one a day, twice daily, once weekly etc.), and when-to-take information (e.g. before or after a meal, dosage etc,).
[0009] South Korean patent application no. 20210006846, titled“System and method for standardizing medical products using identification code,” is concerned with a method and system for standardising atypical products such as quasi-drugs and medical devices in the medical industry through a normalization process using an identification code such as a barcode or QR code.
[0010] The article titled ‘Mobile Recommendation System for Cosmeceutical Products’ by Ching-Sheng Hsu and Shu-Fen Tu, describes a system for providing an ingredient retrieval and recommendation system for cosmeceutical products using two-dimensional (2D) barcodes.
[0011] Many prior art technologies and / or techniques however are limited to providing only basic information, and often in an inconvenient manner, and fall short of providing the necessary detail required to enable a consumer to gain immediate confidence in the safety and efficacy of a product. This lack of transparency can lead to confusion and mistrust among consumers. Furthermore, without convenient and prompt access to updatedtest reports and efficacy results, consumers may remain unaware of potential risks associated with using a product. This can increase the likelihood of harm to users, particularly those with allergies or specific dietary requirements.
[0012] Further, many prior art technologies and / or techniques offer results that are easily downloadable to the user, which can present security issues that may need to be taken into consideration when developing, implementing and maintaining systems to protect users and ensure the integrity of information provided. One such issue is phishing, where scammers can create fake websites that look similar to legitimate websites and use them to trick users into providing personal or sensitive information. Another issue is malware, where downloadable information linked to machine-readable code may contain viruses that can infect a user’s device and steal personal information or cause other harm. Prior art techniques can also make it difficult for product information to be updated in view of changes in testing and efficacy values, such as presenting results as, for example, interactive PDFs, online forms, websites, and online databases etc., which can involve updating multiple records / files to ensure that data remains accurate and consistent. In many circumstances, this can be time-consuming and require specialised knowledge and technical expertise.
