OCR09WP26 / 03 / 25691. Preparation of composite material from ferric oxyhydroxide, nickel iron-layer double oxide, and activated carbon. The procedure involves step 1: Preparation of ferric oxyhydroxide, which is as follows: a. Weigh 0.2 g of polyvinylpyrrolidone and add it to 25 ml of solution containing 1.7 g of iron(III) nitrate monohydrate. b. Add 9 ml of 5 M sodium hydroxide solution under magnetic stirring for 3 hours. c. Perform a hydrothermal reaction at 120 °C for 24 hours. d. Wash the solution. The precipitate is washed with deionized water until pH 7 is reached and then washed again with ethanol. It is then dried at 60°C and the precipitate is ground into a fine powder to obtain ferric oxyhydroxide. Step 2: Preparation of nickel iron-layer double oxide involves the following steps: a. Dissolve 5.5490 g of nickel (II) chloride hexahydrate, 10.0988 g of iron (III) nitrate hexahydrate, and 6.40 g of sodium hydroxide with a total volume of 80 ml of deionized water in a beaker and stir the mixture with a magnet. b. Perform a hydrothermal reaction at 120°C for 48 hours. c.The precipitate is washed with deionized water until a pH of 7 is obtained, then washed again with ethanol. It is dried at 60°C and ground into a fine powder to obtain nickel iron-layer double hydroxide. The nickel iron-layer double hydroxide is then calcined at 400°C for 2 hours to obtain nickel iron-layer double oxide. Step 3: Preparation of activated carbon involves the following steps: a. Wash the fish scales thoroughly with water. b. Dry them at 110°C, then calcin them at 500°C for 2 hours and grind them into a fine powder to obtain carbon powder. c. Mix the carbon powder from step b and zinc chloride together in 100 ml of deionized water in a 1:3 ratio by weight in a beaker, and continuously stir the solution with a magnet for 5 hours. d. ...Wash the activated carbon powder with deionized water until it reaches pH 7 and dry it at 110 degrees Celsius. Step 4: Mix 2 grams of ferric oxyhydroxide, 2 grams of nickel iron-layer double oxide, and 4 grams of activated carbon in a mortar. Drop acetone over the mixture and grind the powder thoroughly for 30 minutes until a fine powder is obtained. This will produce a composite material from ferric oxyhydroxide, nickel iron-layer double oxide, and activated carbon.
