Abstract

This invention relates to a de-icing system that prevents vehicle door locks and seals from freezing open, especially in cold weather conditions. The invention essentially consists of a heating element (resistor) integrated into the door handle or lock mechanism, a temperature-sensing heat control relay, a time-controlled relay that allows operation for a desired duration, and a remote control relay module that activates the system. This allows the ice on the door to melt before the user reaches the vehicle, preventing mechanical stress and seal damage, and avoiding the environmental damage caused by chemical sprays used to melt frozen doors.
