Abstract

Infrastructure-Independent, Low-Energy, Mesh-Structured Communication Device and Method for Disaster Management This invention is a wireless communication system and a method for operating it, which provides uninterrupted and reliable data transmission between individuals trapped under rubble and rescue teams, especially in situations where GSM, internet, and similar infrastructure networks are disabled after natural disasters. The invention was developed to overcome the problems of energy constraints, dependence on base stations, and signal loss caused by structural obstacles such as concrete and rubble that existing communication technologies experience during disasters. The system consists of a "Mesh" (multi-point) network architecture with node devices equipped with low-power microcontroller units and the LoRa protocol, positioned under the rubble, and which extends the transmission range by transferring signals from these nodes to each other. The key feature of the invention is that it overcomes structural barriers by transmitting data between layers via multiple nodes and ensures long-term operational continuity thanks to low energy consumption. The invention offers a portable and sustainable communication solution that enhances the effectiveness of search and rescue operations in disaster areas without the need for any external infrastructure.
