Abstract

The invention relates to a brake pedal mechanism (10) developed for use in hydraulic brake systems in motor vehicles, which enables the foot force applied by the driver to the brake pedal (11) to be transmitted to the brake cylinder (16) with a variable mechanical ratio throughout the pedal stroke; this mechanism transmits the rotational movement of the brake pedal (11) around the pivot shaft (12) to the brake cylinder (16) via the cylinder shaft (14) which can slide linearly on the sliding shaft system (13), the movable cylinder bracket (15) which can rotate around the cylinder pivot pin (17) and the cylinder pivot arm (18) which connects the brake pedal (11) and the bracket (15), thus providing lower pedal force, better ergonomics and high braking efficiency with a low stroke at the start of braking and an increasing pedal ratio in the later stages.
