Abstract

The invention relates to a multiband metasurface that provides electromagnetic wave absorption at different frequencies. The metasurface consists of supercells repeated on a dielectric or composite carrier. Each supercell contains groups of resonator strips positioned side-by-side in the same plane and tuned to different wavelengths. The resonator strip groups act as lossy RLC equivalent arms and convert electromagnetic energy into heat by damping the current induced by the incident electromagnetic wave in resistive / lossy elements. Absorption is targeted in approximately 10 GHz, 6 GHz, 3 GHz, 1.5 GHz, and 1 GHz bands in the preferred application. The structure can be fabricated as single-surface, thin, and preferably flexible.
