Abstract
The invention is a computer-aided method and system for performing pre-fabrication preparation for three-dimensional concrete printing from a building information model. Elements in the federative building model are separated into structural elements, openings, utility passages, reservations, machinery, and site elements suitable for printing, based on their semantic and geometric properties. The actual geometries of the elements suitable for printing are extracted; openings and utility passages are converted into reservations containing layer start and end points, pump stop, tool path cutting, support, lintel, and approval information. Structural elements are separated into layers, and tool paths and a digital machine script suitable for concrete extrusion are generated. The tool paths are validated in terms of machine working area, nozzle, pump, speed, material, and fresh concrete feasibility. The generated script is reprocessed, and the tool path volumes are compared with the volumes of the unprinted area to determine the severity of the violation. The manufacturing decision, categorized as suitable, conditionally suitable, or unsuitable, is made using model, tool path, machine, environment, equipment, raw material, performance, and quality data.
