Abstract
The invention is an automatically activated multi-sensor safety helmet system. The system includes a helmet body, pressure / contact sensor, gas sensor, inertial sensor, vital sign sensor, temperature sensor, position module, main processing unit, audible alarm unit, and wireless communication unit. The sensors are activated when contact between the helmet and the user is detected. Acceleration and angular movement data from the inertial sensor are filtered through Kalman filtering; the change in gas and pulse data over time is determined. A local audible alarm is generated if the gas or pulse change exceeds a defined limit. If critical gas concentration or critical pulse and temperature data are determined simultaneously with horizontal immobility after impact, position and sensor data are transmitted to a central monitoring panel.
