Abstract

The invention relates to a localization system (1) and method for determining the location on the outer surface (D) of a wind turbine blade corresponding to a defect region (50) located on the inner surface (I) of the blade (T). Accordingly, the novelty consists of an inspection robot (10) that moves inside the wind turbine blade (T) and detects the defect region (50), a marking mechanism (20) located on the inspection robot (10), a magnetic marker (30) placed on the inner surface (I) of the blade corresponding to the defect region (50) via the marking mechanism (20), and at least one external sensing apparatus (40) that detects the magnetic field created by the magnetic marker (30) through the wall of the wind turbine blade (T) and determines the location on the outer surface (D) of the blade corresponding to the location of the magnetic marker (30).By placing the magnetic marker (30) on the defect area (50) and moving the external sensing apparatus (40) along the outer surface (D) of the wing, the outer surface position corresponding to the defect area (50) is determined according to the detected magnetic field.
