Abstract

The invention relates to a self-supporting hybrid composite electrode containing boride particles and rare earth oxide particles together within a vanadium carbide-based V'CT' MXene matrix, and to the manufacturing method of said electrode. The hybrid composite electrode contains boride particles and rare earth oxide particles dispersed as separate dopant phases within a film matrix formed by V'CT' MXene nanoplates. While the boride particles maintain the distance between the V'CT' MXene layers, the rare earth oxide particles are distributed on the V'CT' MXene surfaces. The manufacturing method involves obtaining V'CT' MXene from the V'AlC MAX phase through selective etching, washing, and delamination processes; preparing separate mixtures containing V'CT' MXene, boride, and rare earth oxide; combining and homogenizing these mixtures; forming them into a film; and subjecting them to drying and / or annealing processes. The resulting electrode has a film structure that does not contain a polymeric binder or a copper or aluminum-based current collector, and can be used as either an anode or a cathode.
