Abstract

The invention relates to the design, selection, and classification of nanostructured carbon surfaces based on C16 carbon nanocone units and their electronic, electrostatic, and optical response descriptors. Within the scope of the invention, the C16 carbon nanocone unit (1) is defined as a conical carbon skeleton consisting of a total of 16 carbon atoms. This unit includes a top region (2) containing a pentagonal defect in the graphitic network, a sidewall region (3) extending from this top region to the base / edge region, and a base / edge region (4) used for periodic repetition or surface bonding.
