Abstract

The present invention provides a method for converting carbon source into glycolic acid. The method for converting carbon source into glycolic acid includes: providing a plastid with gene sequences of SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 2 and SEQ ID NO: 3; transforming the plastid into a bacterial cell to obtain a modified bacterial cell; and providing the carbon source to the modified bacterial cell so that the modified bacterial cell converts the carbon source into glycolic acid.
