Abstract

A mobile communication device including an inlet, a gas sensor chip housing, a gas sensor chip at least partially disposed within the gas sensor chip housing, and a flow path defined sequentially by the inlet, the gas sensor chip housing, and the gas sensor chip. The gas sensor chip is configured to detect a target substance present in the gas by interacting with a semiconductor present in the gas sensor chip, thereby modulating an electrical signal value of the gas sensor chip in a manner that is indicative of the target substance. The gas sensor chip includes a first electrical contact, a second electrical contact, a substrate with a primary surface, a first electrode disposed over the primary surface of the substrate, a plurality of projections, and the semiconductor in contact with the first electrode and the second electrode.
