Method for loading executables into specific types of system memory using application binary interface (ABI)-compliant notes

Abstract

A method for loading an executable is described. The method includes identifying compiled code and data sections that map to a specific type of system memory. The method also includes grouping the identified code and data sections in individual executable and linkable format (ELF) segments in an ELF file. The method further includes embedding an encoded memory mapping scheme of each memory type of the compiled code and data sections in a notes section of the ELF file. The method also includes generating a program header table to identify the notes section of the ELF file.
