Decoder, encoder, method for decoding, method for encoding, computer program and data stream using an end-of-frame-symbol

Abstract

A decoder for decoding a sequence of data from a data stream, configured to arithmetically decode the sequence of data from the data stream in units of frames of the sequence of data, for each frame, upon reaching an end of the respective frame, arithmetically decode an end-of-frame-symbol from the data stream which terminates an arithmetically coded bitstream portion into which the respective frame is arithmetically coded. Encoder for encoding a sequence of data into a data stream, configured to arithmetically encode the sequence of data into the data stream in units of frames of the sequence of data, for each frame, upon reaching an end of the respective frame, arithmetically encode an end-of-frame-symbol into the data stream which terminates an arithmetically coded bitstream portion into which the respective frame is arithmetically coded. Further embodiments comprise corresponding methods, a data stream and a computer programm.
