Abstract
A sole and footwear are provided, having a structure that facilitates pressing the toes down with the toe area as the center of the foot. The sole, a type of shoe sole, has a recess in the ground-facing area corresponding to the base of the toes of the foot wearing the shoe, wherein the recess facilitates bending in the direction of ground contact. The recess, preferably a slit, allows the toes to grip the sole.
