Abstract

An intraoral phototherapy device is provided that not only reliably illuminates the gingival margin and free gingiva across the entire dental arch of the user, but also provides excellent wearing comfort when the user wears the braces deep inside the oral cavity. The device has a brace (1) and a light source (2) disposed thereon and equipped with a plurality of light emitters (20). The brace has an occlusal tray (3) and an anterior edge (4) and a posterior edge (5) opposite to the outer and inner surfaces of the upper and lower gingiva (9) of the wearer, respectively. The anterior edge (4) has recesses (4c, 4c') on its upper and lower edges, on which the wearer's upper lip frenulum (91) and lower lip frenulum (92) are located, respectively. The posterior edge (5) has recesses (5c, 5c') on its upper and lower edges, on which the wearer's palatal suture (93) and lingual frenulum (94) are located, respectively.
