Abstract

A stapler includes: a staple ejector for ejecting staples; a binding section for bending a pair of staple legs ejected by the staple ejector; a mounting section for mounting an object to be bound; a plurality of guide sections for guiding the position of the object to be bound in the width direction in the horizontal direction to different positions in the horizontal direction, the horizontal direction intersecting the front-back direction, the front-back direction being the direction in which the object to be bound is inserted and removed between the staple ejector and the binding section; and a detection section for activating the staple ejector and the binding section by detecting the object to be bound placed in the mounting section.
