Method of manufacturing a foamed polymer prod-uct

Abstract

This disclosure relates to a method for manufacturing a foamed polymer product (1) having one of a series of openings (2) and a compression mold (4) including a series of pins (5) for use in the method. The method includes the steps of: providing a foamed polymer preform (3) having a specific height, width and length and including a series of openings (2) extending into or through the preform (3); inserting the preform (3) into the compression mold (4) by sliding the preform (3) onto the corresponding series of pins (5) of the compression mold (4) through the series of openings (2); and shaping the preform (3) in the compression mold (4) by compressing the preform (3) inside the compression mold (4), specifically by pressing the top (6) and the base (7) toward each other and by heating the preform (3) inside the compression mold (4), to form the product (1) having a compressed height, width and / or length. The disclosure relates to a method for manufacturing a foamed polymer product 1 having a series of openings 2 and compression mold 4 comprising a series of pins 5 for use in said method. The method comprising the steps of providing a foamed polymer preform 3 having a certain height, width and length and comprising a series of openings 2 extending into or through the preform 3; inserting the preform 3 into the compression mold 4 by sliding the preform 3 with the series of openings 2 onto the corresponding series of pins 5 of the compression mold 4; and shaping of the preform 3 in the compression mold 4 to form the product 1 having a compressed height, width and / or length by compressing the preform 3 inside the compression mold 4, in particular by pressing the top 6 and the base 7 towards each other and by heating of the preform 3 inside the compression mold 4.
