Abstract

The objective of this invention is to provide a component and gear for a human-powered vehicle that can suppress the reduction of vehicle lifespan. The component for a human-powered vehicle of this invention includes: a housing; and a mounting portion disposed on the housing and configured to be mounted on a support portion of the human-powered vehicle by fasteners; the mounting portion includes: a metal base portion; a metal connecting portion disposed on the base portion and configured to be connected to the fasteners; and an intermediate portion disposed between the connecting portion and the base portion; the base portion includes a first material having a first standard electrode potential; the connecting portion includes a second material having a second standard electrode potential; the intermediate portion is formed of a third material or a fourth material, the third material having a third standard electrode potential, the difference between the third standard electrode potential and the first standard electrode potential, and the difference between the third standard electrode potential and the second standard electrode potential being smaller than the difference between the first standard electrode potential and the second standard electrode potential, respectively; the fourth material having electrical insulation properties.
