Abstract

This invention provides a glass fiber composition and a method for manufacturing glass fibers that combine low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss tangent with a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The invention is characterized in that, as a glass composition, it contains, by mass%, 35%–68% SiO2, 0%–40% Al2O3, 5%–40% B2O3, 0%–12% P2O5, and 0%–5.5% Li2O+Na2O+K2O+MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO+ZnO, and further contains at least one selected from TiO2, ZrO2, Fe2O3, MoO3, Cr2O3, SO3, SnO2, Pt, and Rh.
