Abstract
A process for the production of a product 2-alkylalkanol stream is disclosed. The process comprises feeding a polished 2-alkylalkanol stream to a lights removal distillation column. A lights stream is withdrawn from at or near the top of the lights removal distillation column and a heavies containing stream is withdrawn from a first position at or near the bottom of the lights removal distillation column. The product 2-alkylalkanol stream is withdrawn as a liquid side draw from a second position above the first position.
