Abstract

[Problem] This invention provides an optical waveguide that is free of fluorinated alkyl compounds and capable of forming a low-refractive-index core and cladding layer, making it suitable for optoelectronic hybrid substrates. [Solution] An optical waveguide has a core and a cladding layer covering the core. The core is composed of a cured polymeric composition (a) free of fluorinated alkyl compounds, the cured composition having a refractive index n1 of 1.48 or less at a wavelength of 1.31 μm. The cladding layer is composed of a cured polymeric composition (b) containing hollow microparticles with a particle size of 5 nm to 150 nm and free of fluorinated alkyl compounds, the cured composition having a refractive index n2 of 1.45 or less at a wavelength of 1.31 μm, and n1-n2 being 0.002 to 0.15.
