Deoxidizer composition

Abstract

A deoxidizer composition is provided, which initially suppresses oxygen absorption and maintains sufficient oxygen absorption performance after a certain period of operation in the atmosphere. The deoxidizer composition comprises metal halide-coated iron powder (A), formed by coating reduced iron powder with iron oxides on its surface with metal halides, and a moisture supply agent (B). The iron content in the iron powder after removing the metal halides and moisture from the metal halide-coated iron powder (A) is 97.0~99.3% by mass, and the metal halide content is 0.01~1.0 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the iron powder after removing the metal halides and moisture from the metal halide-coated iron powder (A).
