Abstract

The objective of this invention is to provide a technique to assist in the metabolism of dietary fiber in weaning infants. This invention addresses the aforementioned objective using a *Bifidobacterium breve* containing a protein of one of the following: (A), (B), or (C). (A) A protein containing the amino acid sequence of sequence number 2. (B) A protein containing one or more amino acids from the amino acid sequence of sequence number 2 that have been deleted, substituted, and / or added, and possessing glycoside hydrolase 59 (GH59) activity. (C) A protein containing an amino acid sequence that has more than 90% identity with the amino acid sequence of sequence number 2, and possessing GH59 activity.
