Abstract

The rotating component has a surface made of quenched and tempered steel, which is the contact surface with other rotating components. The rotating component includes a nitrided layer on its surface. The average nitrogen concentration on the surface is 0.10% by mass or more. The average carbon concentration on the surface is 0.60% by mass or more and 1.5% by mass or less. The surface hardness is 800 Hv or more and 1000 Hv or less. The residual ferrite content on the surface is 20% by volume or less. In the nitrided layer, in a cross-sectional view perpendicular to the surface, the area fraction of undissolved carbides with a particle size of 5.0 μm or less is 17% or less.
