Abstract

A vacuum generating unit is provided to reduce the flow rate of compressed air required to generate negative pressure by reducing the exhaust resistance of the muffler. The vacuum generating unit (40) is disposed between the manifold block (11) and the switching valve unit (30) and generates negative pressure by means of compressed air supplied through the switching valve unit (30). It has: a housing (41) having a first air supply port (42), an air ejector section (50), a first negative pressure output port (43), and an exhaust port (44), and a muffler (70) disposed at the exhaust port. The muffler has: a muffler section (71) having a muffler flow path (72) made of muffler material (73), and an exhaust section (80) for discharging exhaust gas after it has been muffled by the muffler section to the atmosphere. An exhaust space (82) connected to the outlet opening of the muffler flow path and an exhaust flow path (83) connecting the exhaust space to the outside are formed in the exhaust body of the exhaust section. The cross-sectional area of ​​the exhaust space is larger than the outlet opening, and the exhaust space is formed into a longitudinal shape with a height greater than its width.
