Abstract

This invention relates to a connector for an optical waveguide, comprising: a groove for mounting a sheet-like optical waveguide having stepped portions at both ends in the width direction; and a pair of pin holes equally disposed on both outer sides of the groove in the width direction for insertion of guide pins; the groove having a first portion for mounting a lower cladding layer, a second portion formed in the upper and lower directions of the first portion for mounting an upper cladding layer, and a boundary portion formed along the steps at the boundary between the first portion and the second portion; and the pair of pin holes being disposed such that a guide pin reference line connecting the centers of the pair of pin holes is offset relative to the boundary portion toward the second portion by a predetermined distance corresponding to the core height of the core.
