Abstract

The purpose of this invention is to provide a small, low-loss optical connector with minimal variation in connection loss and minimal sleeve damage during connection, as well as an optical module that can connect to the optical connector, a plug for the optical connector, and a connection method for the optical connector. The solution is an optical connector (10) that can connect a socket (100) and a plug (200). The socket (100) is a magnetic body and has a recess for fixing a first sleeve (110) to the connection surface. The plug (200) includes: a thin plate (220); a magnet (230) that can attract the socket (100) via the thin plate (220); a guiding element (250) that slidably houses a second sleeve (210); and a spring (265) that pushes the second sleeve (210) toward the socket (100). When the socket (100) and the plug (200) are connected, the attractive force between the socket (100) and the plug (200) is greater than the pushing force of the spring (265).
