Abstract

This invention enables a control circuit to start operating more quickly. A circuit breaker includes: a main circuit; a mechanical switch that switches the main circuit on and off; a semiconductor element connected in series downstream of the mechanical switch that switches the main circuit on and off; a sensor that outputs a signal corresponding to the current flowing in the main circuit; a control circuit that detects the current flowing in the main circuit based on the output signal of the sensor; and a power supply circuit connected upstream of the mechanical switch via a first switch to supply power to the control circuit by turning on the first switch.
