Abstract

This invention relates to a symbiotic support system that utilizes the inherent characteristics of semiconductor devices in the symbiotic relationship between various entities such as autonomous robots and humans. In the symbiotic support system 1 for entities possessing semiconductor devices, both the authenticating entity and the semiconductor devices of the authenticated entity have authentication units. The authentication unit of the authenticating entity generates a challenge and sends it to the semiconductor device of the authenticated entity, performing authentication using the sent challenge and the response received from the semiconductor device of the authenticated entity. The authentication unit of the authenticated entity generates a response based on the semiconductor device's inherent authenticated-side PUF and the challenge received from the authentication unit of the authenticating entity, and sends it to the authentication unit of the authenticating entity.
