Abstract

Rotor assemblies for a rotor-based aerial vehicles are described. An example rotor assembly comprises an electric motor including a stator, a rotor, and an open central region. The rotor is configured to rotate relative to the stator. The open central region is located radially inward relative to the stator. The example rotor assembly further comprises a plurality of rotor blades operatively coupled to the rotor. The example rotor assembly further comprises a device deployable from a stowed position relative to the electric motor into a deployed position relative to the electric motor. At least a portion of the device is located within the open central region when the device is in the stowed position. The at least a portion of the device is located above the electric motor and above the plurality of rotor blades when the device is in the deployed position.
