Abstract

The objective of this invention is to provide a PEF resin with a reduced content of cyclic dimers. The polyester resin of this invention comprises a polycarboxylic acid component containing a dicarboxylic acid with a furan backbone and a polyol component containing ethylene glycol, wherein the content of the cyclic dimer is less than 10,000 ppm, and its acid value (AV) and hydroxyl value (OHV) satisfy the following formula (1): AV[eq / t] - OHV[eq / t] ≥ -15[eq / t] (1)
