Air filter for external installation atop an air-handling unit

Abstract

Air filters for external installation atop an air inlet of an indoor air-handling unit of a mini-split air-conditioning system. Such an air filter may include a conformal, unframed, pleated filter assembly including a pleated layer of filter media and a biasing layer that is co-pleated with the filter media. Such an air filter may have a front, securing panel that can be detachably secured to an outside surface of a housing of the indoor air-handling unit. The pleated filter assembly of such an air filter may be reversibly expandable between a compacted condition and an at-rest condition. The pleated filter assembly may be expansively biased toward the expanded, at-rest condition.
