Abstract

This invention relates to module edge interface assembly positioning. Techniques for precisely positioning signal contacts on a card edge interface are described. An example cable assembly includes a housing having a reference post positioned along a side wall of the housing. The reference post includes a positioning ridge extending from its outer surface. A printed circuit board in the cable assembly includes an interlocking recess. The reference post of the housing occupies an open space within the interlocking recess of the printed circuit board, and the positioning ridge of the reference post sets or determines the positioning of the printed circuit board relative to the housing. The positioning ridge sets the positioning of the printed circuit board based on mechanical interference between the positioning ridge and the peripheral edge of the interlocking recess of the printed circuit board. The positioning ridge also sets the positioning of the front contact edge of the signal contact on the front edge of the printed circuit board.
